It seems like the cat is finally out of the bag and the 2.3 Ecoboost is now an official motor coming out of Ford Motor Company.  The first official announcement of the motor came with the reveal of the Lincoln MKC.  The 2.3 ecoboost will product 270hp and 300ft/lb of torque.  A few more details on the MKC itself can be had here:

I would imagine that by the time this motor is announced in the Mustang that it will be tweaked to be closer to 300/320.  I'm curious to find out more about the motor and if they did more than just increase the displacement of the 2.0 EB, or if there are differences on the fuel or turbocharger side of things.

Supposedly, the 2015 Mustang's will see the 2.3L 4Cyl Turbo under it's hood, but it will be tuned to 310bhp.

FMC is strongly considering placing the 3.5L V6 Ecoboost motor into the Mustang's, but that likely won't occur until 2017. Also, FMC plans on tuning them to 400bhp from the factory.

This 3.5L Eco will be the "transition" motor, between the 2.3L 4cyl noted above, and the "Coyote".

I heard FMC will also be offering a "Trinity" version of their Shelby GT500, mated with a supercharged 5.8L V8 pumping out 662bhp from the factory.

Kind of cool to hear/see what's on the horizon. Both for the ECOBOOST platform, as well as the Non-Eco line up(s).

The trinity 5.8 supercharged is whats in the new GT500's 2013-2014.  I bet they will phase out the superchargers in favor of twin turbo's.  Mainly due to increased emissions and mpg requirements.  A Boss 302 motor with twin turbo's would be perfect.  They already have the fully forged bottom ends and ported 4v heads.  ;)

Like Subaru STi JDM 2.0L vs USDM 2.5L ending up having different turbos but same stroke, same block only over bored cylinders. The 2.0L had forged pistons, close deck and could rev 8k rpm. The 2.5L had more torque on the lower rpm but was weaker...

The 2.3 DI has been out labeled as a mazdaspeed, i believe it was a partner build but all there parts seem to be labeled ford.  Surprised to just see them coming out with this.

2.3 should be rated at 320 or so in Mustang.  The 2.3 is a much better engine in the MKC than the 2.0.  Believe me.  As far as the Shelby goes, I cannot spill them beans..... ;)
