2010 MKS splash shield with downpipes

A quick question, when I had a speed shop install the PPE down pipes, they told me they couldn't reinstall the splash shield because they hung down too low. I was a bit taken by surprise at this because I thought the splash shield should be able to reinstall without issue based on what I've read here. There any other MKS jockeys with down pipes that have encountered this issue or did the speed shop just do a poor job of installing them? I'd really like to have that splash shield in place if I can.

I have not heard anything like that happening, but you Definitely need that lower cover on for Safety reasons IMHO,did you try installing that cover yourself to verify the issue?  Z

No, my living situation makes doing much beyond real basic stuff problematic as my HOA gets all crabby about it, having the car up on jack stands would definitely get me a bitchy letter. I'll try and get with my one of my friends when I get the opportunity, I don't really like not having the splash shield on and I thought it should go back on but  wanted to see if something was just different on the MKS for some reason.

i would just make certain that the bolts and clips are indeed on the cover and not missing X 4 .  Z

Z is spot on... Make sure the clips are still there... I am unaware of any fitment issues regarding the shield and DPs. I would also make sur they used the exhaust hangers by the third cat. That could be a disaster if they didn't and it's why they say the pipes are too low. Mine don't get close to touching. Be aware that without the lower cover you hood will start to rattle at 50-60 mph and much faster the hood could blow off or bend around the latch attachment necessitating refitting it.
BTW.... One reason we bought where there is no HOA!

Man I've been driving like that since I think 2013 . . .

Without the aeroshield?  It should be on there.  It improves airflow under the car to reduce front end lift.  It also improves overall aerodynamics.  As others mentioned, it Also reduces under hood pressure.

Yeah man. I got the downpipes installed I think July of 2013, maybe it was July of 2014 but either way, it hasn't been on there since.

BBOX Great to see ya back on this Great Forum cause your insight is greatly appreciated my friend.  Z  :)

Interesting. Mine are 2.5", maybe that's the difference. I'll try to get a better look when I'm under the car this weekend.
