2010 SHO non PP shifting questions

I had a 2014 Flex, non EB. My wife has a 2013 Lincoln MKX. Both of those with sprt shift. The Flex was a button on the shifter and the MKX has paddle shifters. For straight line performance, it was best to put both cars in sport and select 1st gear. Floor it from a stop and never touch the shifter. It automagically shifts at the perfect RPM.

Now, the 2010 SHO will not do this. ( I don't know about the newer models )

Do any of the aftermarket tunes over ride this function so that I can put it in 1, and it will shift out  on its own at red line  instead of hitting the limiter?

If not, how are the best straight line results achieved? Auto or paddles?

Thanks.

Yes, the shift logic was changed on 2013+ models.  Your 2010 will provide the best straight line results in Drive.  The Manual mode engages the paddles but, as you know, it will not upshift automatically in Manual mode and I know of no tuner that changes that.  Tuners vary on this but with my Livernois tune, the car shifts just short of red line - 6200 RPM - at WOT in Drive.

The paddles are far more useful in corners, downshifting before, holding gear, ect...  For drag racing throw it in sport and mash it to the floor.

Thats the issue.....I don't have sport shift, just drive and manual ( with paddles ).

Exactly.  Drive is what you want to use for maximum straight line acceleration.  A tune will firm up the shifts and optimize the shift points.

We do offer tuning for the 2010-12 SHO, MKS, MKT, and Flex that allows us to make the vehicle perform in M gear selection more similar to the 2013+ models would in "S" Sport mode.

That was a mistype, My mistake.  I meant the 2010-12 models will function as the 2013+ models do in sport mode.  My apologies for the confusion.  I was multi tasking,  doing an F150 tune update while posting.  The F150s are 11-14 and then 2015+ are different.  Took me a minute to understand why I would have typed 11-14, but that makes perfect sense now LOL.  Sorry guys!
