2015 Seat compatibility

I have an opportunity to trade my seats out of my 2011 for seats out of a 2015 Limited. My question: are the connectors on the new seats compatible with the connectors on my 2011 car for all the electrics and airbag? If not, I can still take the covers off and put them on my seat frames, just through the it'd be easier to do a bolt in bolt out thing.

I'm suspecting no.

There is a drivers seat module that is connected to the network so unless they have the exact same functionality, I'd highly doubt it without some kind of wiring hack.

Have you seen a pic of the connector to compare?

Hopefully JMR will be along, and maybe he can answer the question better.

How soon do you need to know, and can you get the vin from the other vehicle?

I just asked MrsFoMoCoSHO and she thinks not due to all the harness changes.

I would suspect that if they have the same functions, you may be able to do it of you can match up the wires. That's of course assuming the seats dont contain unique network identifiers.

She also just brought up another issue, all the occupant safety stuff could throw a wrench onto your plan as well. Sensors, sensors everywhere!

Im scheduled to have it done Sunday. The bottom of the seat, connectors and stuff look the same along with the modules under them. Don't know the vin of the donor car, just that it was a limited model with heated/cooled, front seats

Do you have those options now? Sounds like you might get lucky and it will work.

Both pix of the new ones. All the connectors and modules are in the same places and look the same as on my 2011. Only difference with the new seats is that they don't have the multi contour function. I did some cross checking on fordparts.com. I found that the heated/cooled seat control module has the same part number on the 2011 and 2015 along with the seat airbag.

Do you think getting rid of the suede seats will detract from the cars value?

Are you talking the base part # or the complete part number.  I wouldn't think it would work.  I would be worried about the driver seat module and airbags being compatible.  I wouldn't think the massage would be connected in the network but you never know.  Would have to check some manuals.

Whatever part number is on fordparts.com was the same between 2011 and 2015. Even The part diagram for the airbags was the same too

Full part number are xxxx-xxxxx-xx.  If you saw xxxxx that is just a base part number and is always the same.  You need the complete part number.

Just went on tasca to see the full part numbers, I just did a few parts on my phone as I am not home at this second. The motors, frames, and seat heater/cooler is the same number. I dont think ford changed the seat design at all. I compared the bottom of the new seats to mine and all the connectors and modules are in the same place

most likely the same, if not, connectors can be unpinned, moved over, and repinned with a simple screwdriver. just need the wiring diagrams for each.

Nothing like a field experiment :)  Be sure to check for DTCs, esp those related to air bag/safety measures.

I'll get some pix up when the job is complete. Hopefully I'm the first one to put a 2015 interior in a 2011
