3 Bar MAP Sensor Purchase and Installation Guide

I wanted to put this video up in the general boards to help those who are new to the EcoBoost forums. For those of you who are planning on doing a Livernois or Torrie tune and require a 3 bar MAP sensor, this is for you. I bought the sensor from Livernois for $74.99, but quickly learned that you can source this from other auto part stores for $24+ less. Watch the video for instructions on how to source and install the map sensor. This applies to the Lincoln MKS, Taurus SHO, Explorer Sport, and Mustang Fastback Ecoboost engines.

Just an FYI; Tasca Parts is an awesome source for OEM parts at pretty reasonable prices.

I really like and been using Rock auto for quite sometime know, they have great prices, the only issue is if you ordering a few items unfortunetly your going to pay more for shipping, based on multiple shipping warehouses, which charge extra depending which warehouse its coming from,BTW awesome video 14SHOCAR.Z

Great video, fills a void!  Though I thought 2 bar was up to 14.7 psi ???

There are a lot of numbers floating around. I do see a lot of supporting information for the 14.7 and 29.7 figures. I might just make a comment on the video correcting the values. Good catch!

So does this mean that the map sensor listed for the ecoboost f-150 at the local parts stores is a 3 bar since it says the f-150 does not need it? Just curious

I think the F150 has its own MAP sensor...a 2.5 bar map...reads up to 22.5 psi

Rich -- you may be right...

MOTORCRAFT Part # CX2231 {#AA5Z9F479B}  Is the 3 bar referenced in the video....

MOTORCRAFT Part # CX2231 {#AA5Z9F479B} Located at Intercooler

MOTORCRAFT Part # CX2401 {#AA5Z9F479C} Located at MANIFOLD <--- I am thinking that this is either a 2.5 BAR OR ford trickery.

I do want to note that I don't think that your F150 tune will exceed 22.1PSI unless you're doing Meth injection.

Just what I "pick up" from the guys with their trucks...lol

I see guys on just a tune hitting the "22.48" (think that's the exact #) on a regular basis with *** and after logging for Torrie guys will get the upper end of boost added also...getting same 22.48 reading. Seeing more than a few guys post pics of the SCT tuner and that # for boost makes me assume that's the max reading. Math works out for 2.5 that way also.

Ha...S-S-I is a banned word...love it

I just saw post claiming he owes over 10k in just intercooler sales...from a guy I believe too
