All flow, no sound

I am preparing for new exhaust system. I am part of PPE down pipe group buy but considering full exhaust system. The best system I've NOT heard and liked is Shoman04 stock setup. I don't want to be heard. Don't want to intimidate anyone. The turbo whistle will be plenty. Just walk away from them from a dig if need be. (Meth install later maybe?)

Muffler shop suggests from a cost standpoint I keep factory 2 1/4" system, but replace 3rd resonator/cat with Magna flow X-pipe. Total $300 including DP install and X-pipe install.

My question becomes will the 2 1/4" system sound any louder vs the 2 1/2" setup?

Will there be a back pressure issues if I return car to stock tune for service at dealer?

Since the LMS tune will elimate CEL issues, how bad is actual emissions affected?

I just wanted to say that is my EXACT setup and "I like it a lot" (in my Jim Carey voice).

$300 is a fair price, I paid a little less but who cares. I kept the 2 1/4 pipes, it's great and sounds quiet with a little rumble. Check my posts, I linked a YouTube of an engine start.

I've returned to stock a few times, zero issues. I also just passed emissions a couple weeks ago.

They may eliminate the CEL but if you have emissions testing and rediness monitor tests and you are getting Catless Dpipes then you will still have trouble.

DxInt1... I'm happy with the sound using PPE DPs and stock exhaust...very quiet until I get my foot in it, then it can roar if I go say 1/3 throttle or more with sound increasing with right foot pressure. Cruising is without engine noise even with radio off. Some back pressure is good as it seems to prevent leaking turbo seals.... That's why I never installed the exhaust cutout I had built after discussing it with Dan Millen. If you are going catted DPs there is no problem passing emissions as both PPE and LME DP cats have carb numbers. If you are going catless the second O2sensor is turned off in the tune to stop CEL from lighting, but you'll fail the readiness test when OBDII tells them part of the emissions system is not functioning.

Is there a reason you want to replace the stock with a new cat back other than just to do it?

No reason or desire to replace anything I don't need to. My concern was with catted DP's, I would still have some restriction on engine breathing. From what you say and others, just the DP's and x-pipe increase flow AND maintain a quiet exhaust.

No need to advertise, just stomp it and go! My 67 RS/SS has built 383 engine. A fire breathing V8 with no noise. At idle, you can only hear a little lobe from cam and whistle from timing gears, but only if standing next to car. But when the hammer drops, the bowels break. So I will maintain the entire stock system except DP's and x-pipe.

As for emissions testing, we get it all here in California. SO with catted pipes, I will have LMS modify my tune accordingly. And since even with no tune, returning car to stock for service by Ford dealer should not be an issue. If questioned, I will claim ignorance and that car must have had it already when I purchased it.

Catted downpipes installed. A tremendous boost in engine response and responsiveness. Feels quicker. Anyway, here is my sound bytes. Waiting for other video to load then will post link for before install cruise.

I have catless down pipes and I feel no difference whatsoever tuned and stock....maybe my butt dyno needs calibrated and isn't as good as what others are using

Maybe you're a hard ass! lol

Someone said the DP's shift the power to a lower RPM. Maybe thats what I feel.

Well if someone said that I'd say it has to be true

Looks & sounds great, Dxlnt1!  Glad you finally got these upgrades done :D

Thanks. I am glad it sounds just as quiet stock but with increased throughput. And mild turbo whistle.
