Auto show pics

The wife and I got to sneak down to the city (Detroit) for the NAIAS the other day.

I took the GoPro to see how it works as a camera and to check out the quality of the photos it takes.

All these pics are in "12 MP wide" setting.

I think they might be a little to wide though? Camera guy definitely isn't a pro either.

Any feedback on the quality of pics this thing takes would be great.

Very cool pics... great cars and an interesting stairwell too.  If desired PS will correct  the sense distortion on the wide angles (unless you intended it).  Thanks for posting!

Thx...haven't had a high quality camera in years and for some reason these pics seem very sharp.

Thx...first time out using the GoPro to take pictures. Wide was the setting, but man, some of them are REAL wide. Will definitely try some PS magic in the future.

I really need to set camera up and take multiple pics of same thing but different settings to see what's effective. Sounds way to time consuming though... :(

Thanks for posting!  About the only thing I miss from living in Michigan was attending the NAIAS every year.  Remember that parking ramp at Cobo very well!

The Denver Auto Show is the only show I see each year, nothing compared to NAIAS.

heading to stl auto show on sun with my mopar bud. hope to see some good rides, especially looking forward to seeing that 3.5L in a GT & also a hellcat live. hope to get some good pics. not sure they will be in rich's league but still some winter eye candy.

That cameraman's needin' to go back to school :D  Love the pics (even the selfie!), though they do seem a bit "flat"?  Like smoothing has been applied?  Does it have a RAW setting by any chance (though that will take a lot more storage space)?    Doesn't help that the pic is not full rez.  Considering most people are using it for video, I think the GoPro has done quite well.

No problem.

The NAIAS is pretty cool, but I like the Auto-rama show that comes to Cobo in the beginning of March alot more. It has all the custom rides, hot rods from old to new, and a more relaxed environment.

The pics of the circular ramp appear way larger in the pics. My lovely lady looks like she's 50' across in the pic, when it's more like 25', if.

Sounds like fun. It was real hard to get any type of decent pic of the Hellcat's. They were surrounded, and up close the paint looked horrible. For a 70k price tag the paint just looked plain, no depth to it.

My key for taking pics, take a whole bunch more than needed. Hope I get lucky!  ;)

I used my phone to transfer these pics from the GoPro to it, and then to the forum. Real easy process this way. It did give me a couple options on how to save each picture in this process. I chose the high resolution which did take 4 times the storage to do so. I will have to try through the computer to see if any quality is sacrificed through the phone.

Thanks for the feedback everyone.

Shortly after that selfie, the wife decided to take on the largest pothole we had seen all day on I75. If you're from MI, you know that when someone says largest pothole on I75, first you think yeah right, then, wow it must have been pretty big. As I looked out the side view mirror for debris, I swear I saw something the size of a smart car get tossed to the shoulder. Thankfully I don't see any visible damage and the car rides the same. Whew, still need an underbody check though.

Lol, thanks Z. Ended up going to a younger cousins wedding yesterday where the photographer/video guy never showed up. I was then quickly promoted to video guy, thing-a-ma-jigger. Oh how I didn't want the responsibility of capturing someone's big day on film.... :-

Few more. This is the tunnel from Joe Louis parking garage. The metal grates you see over the window cavities are courtesy of one of my good buddies. Long time ago he was in the window well hiding to scare friends as they came through it. As he heard them get closer he went to lean backwards against the glass to hide a touch more, and the glass was gone. He fell out the hole backwards to the ground below. He got lucky, as it was towards the end of the tunnel and landed on the grass about 30-40' down. Doctors say he lived because he passed out before he hit the ground.

I'm really smacking myself for not getting any of the GT...I do have 10 short videos of it, lol. Thought I was taking pics, but I was starting and stopping video....^-^

I do have the full video of the presentation though.
