Autocross

Took the SHO out to MidAmerican Motorplex this summer.  It's a fairly large road course.  Had a blast.

Was able to keep up or be faster than the following cars

M3
335i
speed3
WRX

The SHO's weight was very evident while throwing it around the twisties.

A buddy of mine here was trying to give me the quick and dirty. I guess he routinely took best overall when he was in the game... with a heavily modified Subaru. He was extremely discouraging.

For a car as large as ours, I was curious on the optimal tires. Go with  4 street slicks or something more conventional. Don't want to dish out too much money.

I would be most interested in stock runs. They label our cars in the 'G' class, which is like a Chrysler Sebring v6.

Remember someone was autocrossing their SHO last Summer (2012).  Talked about stock class being very restrictive in tires, suspension, brakes, tune etc.  He did quite well as I recall.

I'm okay with the restrictions. Was just trying to find some guidance referring to our particular platform. Not the ever popular MX5's and WRX's. As for the tune, I was in contact with Torrie awhile ago to tune just the transmission. (Prevent from shifting on its own in Sport mode)

Man, I just don't know how successful a SHO would be on a small autocross course.    Road coarse, sure...but the general parking lot autocross course?  I just don't think a car this large would do well...

That ME!!!! For 2013 I went all MOD's and dragracing, next year its back to autocross. In the Stock class you can't change your tires from the size that came on it, some local units will let you go to a size that come with other option on your car.(like 19" non PP and 20"PP). I ran stock-G 1st year, 2nd year w/tune in the Novice class. I only went to 2 event that year as a newby novice, You have a instructor ride with you and no class rules for you car. This year no auto-cross, just MOD's for Dragracing.  Next year its back to auto-x, I was hoping to run "STREET TOURING" class but my MOD's will push me into "STREET PREPARED" CLASS.

This was my very 1st auto-x, my instructor made one run 1st. And said the car handle very nice. At a different event as a novice I ran a 56sec pass and a Vett in the street prepared class ran it in 49sec!!!!  not bad for novice/4dr vs Vett in SP class.
