I am trying to find a shop that will do suck out my PTU fluild and fill what they took out. I have a 2013 MKS and every dealer I called said it is not serviceable.
I am in the Metro Detroit area near Shelby TWP, MI

Thanks,

Look for the "gear"

symbol that is for driveline services.  There's a Goodyear that does a lot of BG services, for example.

This is complete garbage from all these dealers....tell them to look shop service manuals...there is a procedure for the service...tell them u can get it for them just to be a smart ass...I can't remember what section it is but someone had it posted here also...I can't believe how many service managers are saying this....they are basically taking money out of the techs hands

I went to Romeo Ford today to see if we could start a relationship, someone to maintenance the car when I can't and fix wear and tear items.

I figured since I was going to be there for door handle recall and license plate lights I'd have them swap out some fluids.

Very long story made short

They quoted me $85.35 to "service" the PTU on the phone prior to appt and there when I arrived. Had them do rear diff and coolant flush also.

Living only a half mile away, I showed back up after 6 hours. They said the PTU needs to be dropped to be drained...lol. After explaining to them that it doesn't need to be dropped and other dealers are doing it, the mechanic tries explaining to me the fill plug is on top and it has to be dropped to get to....OMG...I then let him know that I did this task quite easily with a cheap pump...Cue the crickets

Left without car...gorilla hands broke the drivers door handle (it was the one with play in it already, but cmon). Said they can't release the car without handle fixed, safety issue.

So when calling around, make sure they perform it...not just having a procedure in the books they're looking at.

The procedure in the book mentions nothing of dropping the ptu...and the fill plug is not on the top its on the side...the procedure covers all models....this is becoming downright scary...I can see getting these reactions from a backyard mechanic but not a ford dealer that should know these cars

I know...rear shock was leaking too...so that's getting fixed free. Asked them if they could feel the front passenger side play, off and on rattle. Nope. They asked if I'd like to test drive it with them as they had 2 people drive it...I said I'll just buy the parts and go elsewhere at this point.

I told the mechanic, in front of service writer(?), that the top is where the vent is and the drain/fill plugs is on the side. Cmon now.

I noticed when I was changing my transmission fluid the other day, that my rear diff was leaking/seeping because of the mess on it. This was my test going into this visit....will they say anything about it? I got to specifically ask the mechanic how it looked. He said great. I then ask him about the leak? He says huh, and I respond with how I'd been under the car days previous and noticed it. Service desk lady then asks how bad was it. He says a little seepage, I quickly step in and say that it looked covered and it's more than seepage. Cue the crickets again....I then ask if I have to specifically point out the TSB that'll save us both troubles to have my car taken care of.

Shameful at best

I will save u some time and tell you not to call Russ Milne Ford in Macomb. I went there to have a fuel leak repaired under warranty and asked them to quote me changing the PTU and rear diff fluid. They said they had to drop the PTU to drain it and drop the rear cradle to drain the diff. At that point I just rolled my eyes and walked out lol
