clunking noise in the explorer sport

over the last couple of months we've been getting a clunking that can be heard and felt in the front end of the Xsport.  It currently has a little over 10K miles.  Brought it to the shop and they've ordered sway bar end links.  Should be fixed on Monday.  I'll let you guys know if that actually fixes it...Just wanted to put this out there incase anyone else is having this issue.

If you have the 4WD and automatic hubs,  especially if it occurs during turns on dry pavement and you feel the clunking, the automatic hub on one or both front wheels may not be disengaging properly. The same can occur with a locking differential on dry pavement.

sway bar end links did the trick.  Now why did they go bad before 10K miles.

Maybe somebody has a TSB on this.  Hopefully it was just a manufacturing problem affecting the specific run on this part.

Good question, the dealer didn't offer any kind of explanation about it?

Did your paperwork say anything about a TSB?

nothing.  I'm wondering if they weren't 100% tight from the factory and eventually just wore out due to that.  It really felt like something was about to fall out of the front end.  It was bad.  I almost traded it on the 2014 black/black GT500 in the showroom, but the wife would've killed me.

Sounds like we need to get independent post-purchase inspections done (if pre is not possible).  Knowing the common problems/TSBs, get the car tight as possible before you really start putting pedal to the metal.
