Down Pipe tune

I Have my car booked in to get the down pipes installed just after xmas. I have the tune for them now... Is there any issue with running the down pipe tune before the pipes are installed?

After getting two sets of catted DP,it is not recommended installing the tune if you dont have them, the tune bypasses the rear 02 sensor for better performance.

With LME v8 tunes the O2 sensor is turned off for non-catted and left on for catted...
In AZ that's one reason the catted DPs pass emissions... because the OBD2 readiness test shows all emissions system components functioning... So with catted DPs the tune does not bypass the O2 sensor.  With LME v8 tunes in non-catted DP versions the sensor is just turned off... to prevent CELs.

I have the Unleashed 3bar 93 octane tune.. so all the tune does its shuts off o2 sensors to keep the check engine code from coming on?

The need to shutoff the rear O2 sensors is ONLY if you don't have a catted downpipe with the newest hi-flow cats (Magnaflow) in them.  If the tune is adjusted for the presence of aftermarket hi-flow downpipes, and you don't have them installed yet, the vehicle may feel boggy in the lower rev range, where the hi-flow dp's make the most difference.

So yeah, run a non-dp tune if you don't have the dp's installed yet.  But I don't think it will cause any damage if that's what you are asking.

haha ya for sure! thanks guys! I am only going to do it the day of or day before I take it in..  I will "idle" the car to the shop!
that way I don't have to worry about the code when they get installed!

so which downpipes did you decide to go with?  Pics?  Any update on the EVAP system?  Good luck with the install :)

Yes if the pipes are non-catted... otherwise it comes on in 30-45 min of clearing if DPs are non-catted.  I learned that in developing threes set and doing fitment on my car.  Just tell your tuner... they will know what to do.  Have Torrie add the mod for the pipes to take advantage of the earlier turbo spooling as well as the decreased exhaust restriction.

During development I was stock tuned... no damage or concern you need to worry about.
