Driver door won't lock

I set off the alarm today and noticed it was because my driver's side door isn't actually locking.  The black pin on top of the inside door panel goes down and up like normal.  But I'm able to open the door from the outside when it's supposed to be locked.  All the other doors are locked.  Definitely not leaving a key in the car.  I played around with the door for a bit and couldn't see anything obvious.

Probably been doing this for a while, as wife set the alarm off a 3 or 4 weeks ago and we didn't know why.

Anyone seen this?

I'm under warranty but still a PITA to get it to the dealer.

On my '13 if it's locked and you have a key fob close to the car it unlocks when you touch the inside surface of the exterior door handle... This is normal operation.  You should hear the doors unlock and see the black lock pun move.  As far as the alarm, I believe it is either a bad communication from the control module or maybe just need to reset the system to defaults and then return to current function.

Also don't touch the button on the front door handle she trying to enter the car as touching it flocks the door.

There is a panic button on the fob that will activate the alarm.

Does it occur with both fobs?

When you sitting inside with all doors closed and doors unlocked, are the lock pins the same height when open?

Yeah, door pins are same height.  Just locked it from my kitchen (heard horn), left key on counter, and walked out to car.  I was able to open driver's door, alarm went off.  I scheduled an appointment with the dealer on Wednesday.  Will be interesting what needs to be replaced.

I have had door lock related problems.  Twice.  The first time was the passenger side rear door.  As soon as it got cold out last winter my alarm would go off on it's own when the car was cold.  When starting the car and driving it, the DIC would say door ajar, and then once the interior warmed up the doors would lock and all would be fine.  Found out the door sensor was bad and is built into the handle assembly.  $378 later, new door handle.  Second time was a couple weeks ago, and my driver door would not lock, the pin didn't even move to show it was locking or unlocking.  Yet again, another handle assembly.  Ridiculous to think I have almost $800 into 2 door handles.  That alone has paid for a good chunk of the warranty I opted to get (thank god).  Sort of looks like this is going to be another problem area for our cars.

Lock is fixed, done under warranty.  Dealer replaced the lock latch assembly.  Required taking inside door panel off, fairly quick fix.  They also fixed a spring that fell out in the rear interior door handle while it was in.  Feels like a new car again :D
