First time with the SHO at the track

Well I got my 2013 PP sho to the track this last Saturday, and didnt quite run what I was hoping; I know there's more in it thought, best MPH was 108. I only got 4 runs and I botched the launch on 2 of them. But the 2 good ones were 13.12 and 13.17.

Best run
60' - 2.021
1320- 13.120
mph- 106.16

(best mph 108.87)
Both runs where I had a worse launch were 13.3 @ 108mph

DA was 3767 (this could be off as weather fluctuated a lot that day)

Ran at MHDRA drag strip (Medicine Hat)

http://www.dragtimes.com/MHDRA-Dragstrip-TrackID-100.html

It wasn't particularly hot (68-70f) but it was quite humid and it did even rain for a little while that delayed racing.

My tune is also dated; not sure what revision it is as I didn't want to pay the fee to just get it updated for a 3 bar..... mind you it didnt have down-pipes either on the tune it came with.

I'm gonna work on getting that 60' down. Any tips other then launching at 1500-2000 and around 22psi tire pressure (maybe I'll start at 25psi next time and drop it run to run (possibly go lower as well). I ran in drive and sport and the times were within 0.05 seconds.

Being that I see a higher mph on the runs where I botched the launch makes me think I'm getting some wheelspin. Maybe I'll roll into the throttle more then just mashing it to the floor as I launch.

Looks like another victim of someone treating street radials like a slick tire

If they were optimum at 22 psi you would run that all the time...they lose their shape at low pressure.

Tire mfg's design the street tire for low 30's...so when you run 22 the geometry is completely different for what they assumed would be the normal operating conditions.

Just because people air down slicks doesnt mean the street tire needs that

Think about it...the traction needs to be optimum when people drive the car from the dealer.....i also see people doing burnouts on street tires...they get the tire too hot

I run 2000 rpms and floor it and never let off...1.80 60'easy...i let it spin and eat and squeal

That does make sense; I initially wanted to try like 27psi but I kept getting suggestions to go lower. Next round I'm gonna start at like 32 and see what happens.

I was curious to know what type of tires you are running with? No snow tires correct? just need to get her dialed in with a few adjustments and what tune was this? best of luck to ya.  Z  :)

They are the eagle gt supercars on it. I do have the ohm wheel with blizzacs in the garage

I've ran my car at least a 100 times at the dragway...I've used every pressure combo possible. My best results were at 22 psi. I'd start at a higher launch point around 2200 -2300 rpms.

With that anomaly of yours, you could run it with the tires flat and my fat mother-in-law sitting in the back seat and still get a 1.73 60 ft. time.

Did you really have to bring your mother in law into this lol?...i agree though that even if shonuup ran 32 psi his car would yield a good time

How are those Evo's holding up for ya,glad you like them.  Z  :)

Evo's are holding up well....I really think technique is the only thing that netted me lower reaching 60's...I was getting 1.77 with the hated RSA'S...coilovers and new tires I'm at 1.75...not much of an improvement.

Umm..okay.

Thanks for the tips; would love to get my 60' down to 1.7'S wow! Dont think I'll quite get there with the elevation I'm at on current mods though.

Gonna work on it and play with a few more things; I was on a pro tree for most of my runs which did affect me concentration on getting a really good launch. I've watched my share of racing but this was only the 2nd time I've actually taken a car.

Well I went back for another street night and ran tires at 29psi this time; it was a cooler day. The car ran 12.9's all day just eeking out a 12.87 as it's best time. All runs hit 110mph. Best 60' was 1.91

Awesome, plenty more in her with a 1.91. Bring that down to a 1.8 flat and I think you will see a 12.7, maybe even a 12.6.
