Fuel Module Recall for the 2013

I received my recall letter a week ago, and went into my dealer. They inspected it, did not find any leaks, but noted it was the wrong part. They called yesterday and the part is in, and will be installed next week.

Just wanted to let folks know, the parts are available. Initially I was told maybe September.

If your car was built after Feb of this year, your not affected by the recall. I took my car in for a fuel sending unit issue (mine failed) and they checked it while it was in  and it didn't need the recall.

They have ordered my part, but said the tank has to come out and to bring the car with as least amount of gas possible in the tank.  They said 2.5-3 hour job.  Is this similiar information of what you guys are hearing??

I was told a day to day and half.

The letter from Ford states, "The time needed for this repair is less than one-half day. However, due to service scheduling requirements, your dealer may need your vehicle for a longer period of time."

I scheduled mine in July when I got the letter, dropped it off monday this week and was told no parts in yet they will call when ready. I needed an oil change and inspection anyway.

Well, I took her in for the appointment at 0730 this morning. I was called at 1145 and told the car was finished. Work order indicates replacement of fuel pump, sending unit and gasket, as instructed in recall notice.  Hope this gives everyone an idea of the time actually required to do the job.

My 2013 is sitting a Ford right now getting the fuel pump recall addressed. The star technician left for the day to take care of his kids school stuff leaving the shop short handed. Hopefully it will be finished tomorrow.

I received a letter from Ford Canada 2 days ago. Call my dealer yesterday and the tech told me he need to inspect the car first to know if they need to replace... I don't agree with him, they should just do the job and send the bill to FMC. To be continue.

I just told my dealer about the recall letter and he ordered the parts for the job. He called me about 1-2 days later when everything came in to schedule the service appointment. I think I heard somewhere, from at least one person, about some sort of inspection prior to the repair. When you called the dealer, did you provide him with your VIN so he could look up the recall in Ford's computer? Does anyone know if this recall is VIN specific?

They had to inspect mine also. Apparently, not all the modules require replacement. The tech who initially looked at the car indicated I had the wrong one, so they ordered the parts.  You never know, you may luck out and already have the correct part., and not require the service.

Ok everyone, here's an update on my fuel module recall. Before I dropped my car to have the recall done I depleted the fuel quantity to a quarter tank just to be courteous. After I picked it up today, I ran around town until I was low on fuel. When I pulled in to the local Mobile Alabama Shell to fill up, I started the gas pumping like usual. While waiting for it to fill up as normal, I saw the gas coming out from under my side of the car. By the time I realized that the dealer had jacked something up, it had already spilled about 15 gallons on the other side of my car.  :angry1: Needless to say, it is now parked at a different Ford dealership waiting to be worked on in the morning or Monday. It appears that they left the filler tube off because only about 5% of the gas that was pumped actually made it in the tank. Blah!!!
I’m never going back to that dealership again. Good thing there are 3 different dealers in the Mobile area. Check out these photos.

Incredible! The dealer should pay you the tab for the lost fuel, and pay the station for the hazmat clean-up. Love my Ford, pretty much hate the service department.
