Gas Fill Line

HELP!
I installed the BG 44 into my car today. Hopeful for positive results. Problem is, gas fill line is locked. Only a gas pump nozzle releases mechanism to fill tank. Some kind of way, and accidentally, I got the fill line to shift, and unlock to allow me to install the BG 44. But now I cannot get the fill line to reset and lock. Anyone could possibly come siphon gas out.

Anyone know how to reset and relock the gas fill line?

Sounds like you locked the mechanism. Try to to put the supplied funnel into the fill neck to unlock it.

It's on the spare tire in the trunk.

Sent using smoke signals.

Didnt know or recognize a funnel ner spare. But I will try these this afternoon after work. Does anyone have pic of this special funnel? I just used standard funnel to pour in..

Lift up the trunk floor to expose the spare. Easy to miss but clipped to a panel to keep it from rattling around, in the area of the trunk nearest the back bumper, is a small plastic funnel for use in adding fuel or additives when not able to use a pump nozzle.

Larry Lu is correct, its closer to the tire twards the trunk,6 oclock position by the tire, you will see a small clear clip by the tire pull it out.

First, no funnel in my car. I bought car used late last year!

Tried ALL of the aforementioned methods. I still cant get the thing to relock. The dealer seems clueless. At least the one I went to. Said whole filler neck has to be replaced. I tried pressing the releases inside the fill line, repositioning whole fill neck, a standard funnel, screwdriver the whole bit. What in the world am I missing?

FYI, dealer said gas can NOT be siphoned out because of all the twist and turns of the fill neck. And that there are check valves in the line. Anyone have any info? Do I need to worry and replace this thing? Or is someone local in LA area that can help?

If you are worried about gas theft or tampering you can get this

You cannot add any additives or gas from a jerry can without the funnel. Unless they are designed for a cap less system. Your car should have come with one.

Sounds like you damaged it. Maybe someone can repair it. I'd try searching google for a solution.

I still need or want to verify its broken first. Dealer was pretty clueless so they were no help. This forum gave me more help and info on it.

The locking gas cap is definitely an option I will consider. But again, I would like to see how it engages? Then I can see if I am doing it right. Just may be me not doing something. Nothing sounded unusual when it unlocked! Sounded and felt like it was supposed to behave like it did. I may not be pushing hard enough.

WHO KNOWS?

How about you put up a short video clip so we can see exactly what we're working with? I'm sure it is fixable, or a spring/latch/mechanism might be caught up or broken.

Had video to upload then noticed the "cap" was coming off. Tried to re install. Went to dealer. THEY ARE USELESS. UNLESS ITS WRITTEN SOMEWHERE, CANT FIGURE HOW TO OPEN A DONUT BOX.

Anyway, the cap from fuel filler neck broke off. There are tabs that clip it in place and connect to fuel flap. Part: $175, labor 2.5 hours! OK, this Ford is starting to hurt now!!

Fuel filler pipe, #9034
Capless fuel filler funnel #17B068
Fuel filler cap #9C268 (this may come with #9034) (this is part that actually broke. But attached to filler pipe)
