general sho exhaust question

Can anyone point me to where I can find the stock layout of the exhaust? I'm interested in existing pipe sizing, connections, how its configured, etc.

I just ordered a 2014 SHO in darkside w/ PP and fully loaded, im starting to research parts while I wait for ford to build it.  I'm totally unfamiliar with the eco boost engine as well. Is it MAF? SD? What are some of the limitations? What HP/TQ is the AWD or transmission good to? What tends to break from power?

Does anyone have a list of some common upgrades and what they produce? My understanding is that turbo exhaust upgrades to reduce backpressure should be first and foremost, is this true in the case of the SHO?

Thx

Welcome!  The first mods you want are a tune and springs.  Livernois and Unleashed are the two most popular tuners.  H&R or Eibach both make springs for the SHO.  2014 SHO's may have slight differences to prior model years so be sure to double check applications.  Congrats on your Darkside SHO.  I can't wait to see one in person!

I do have an sct X3 tuner sitting around, I could use this if they offer SCT tunes, looks like Livernois has their own little tune box. I'm not sure if I found the correct site for unleashed, I don't see anything about ford taurus on the site im looking at.

What is the suspension setup on these? I have a 95 mustang gt with a full maximum motorsports suspension using the bilstein coilovers and H&R springs, I like the springs on the mustang it handles like a champ, do the springs make that big of a diff on the sho? I have to weigh out the changes I make to it, I don't want to really degrade ride quality since this is a DD, I just was looking for some HP. The mustang has 0 ride quality, its basically a race car that passes state inspection LOL.

Torrie Mc Phail (St. Augustine, FL) is Torrie@unleashedtuning.com  He also owns Fast Parts Network. Last year he and the owner of Roe Racing participated in AutoWeek's Ride around the west... in a Dodge Ram pickup.

As far as suspension, H&R lowers the car more and their springs are progressive.
Changing out the wheels/tires to lighter ones help with handling after spring mod.
I run both on our Flex, and have Pilot Super Sports pumped up to 40+ lbs.  Saved 80 lbs in tire and wheel weight from stock.  Wife is picky, we drive it back and forth from IA-FL and she's happy.  We are seniors(old farts)!!!! SHO shouldn't be any different even with PP.

PPE Downpipes (or other brands) help with lowering exhaust pressures.  I have a Nesho mid-pipe (adds an x-pipe and eliminates the 3rd cat and mid-muffler).  I also changed out my rear mufflers for Magnaflow.  Corsa and others do a full exhaust from cats back for SHO.  I did mine in pieces before aftermarket options were available, so would have gone with a full system if it had been available.

Dreaming is good!!!  You will really enjoy your EB SHO!

Congrats on purchase these car are speed density and a tune will give you the biggest bang for your buck. Meth injection will the next biggest and high flow down pipes. The stock exhaust is one piece from the down pipes back and believe it 2 1/4". And you should be able to find a drawing of on fordparts.com. Limitation eh well we have found that out yet so far I believe highest dyno'd 423whp 563wtq

Welcome!  Your car's going to be awesome out the door, and when you put these mods on, well ...  :)

Thanks for all the replies.

I haggled with 5 dealers and one gave me a great price so I jumped on it,

MSRP - $47075
Dealer Price - $42698
Current Rebate - $1500
Ford ESP Prem Care 7yr 125k mi warranty w/ $100 deductible - $1810
6% sales tax - $2581
New tag/title/PA Doc - $226
Total Due - $45815

the $0 deductible for the same extended warranty was about $500 more I think im going to go that route too so I don't get nickle and dimed on stupid little stuff that might break.

This dealer came in like $1500 less at least than all the other dealers I talked to, and the warranty was less too. Funny how different the dealers come in when I ask for their best price.  Also they all wanted $500 down to order the car, but after I put the order in w/ this dealer the guy said he wasn't even going to run my CC he just ordered it for me :P
