Goodyear F1 supercars

So I have had F1s on my car since new. Last year I had one fail to what I thought was a slashed tire. Today I decided to go into the shop to get them balanced and have a plug in one fixed properly. When my friend who runs the shop called me over and said "you are not going to track the car like this are you?" I said why??? The front tires both have cracks in the sidewall (on the inside). Can't be, I just put them on a few weeks ago and I inspected them. They showed no signs of anything. To top it off these are the pair that I replaced last summer. Needless to say I was really not impressed. After both him and I calling into Goodyear they offered to pay for 50% of the front 2 tires. Perfect, I am already out of pocket from last year. And I will have to replace the rears at the end of the summer (they are original to the car). So I ordered a full set of Michelin Pilot Super Sports. No more Badyear for me. Apparently this is common with the F1s. They really don't like the cold at all. The guy from Goodyear even had the balls to ask if I drove on them all year. Ok bud, I already told you where I live and your office is located in the same city. So I said politely no I have dedicated winter tires. Long story short, if you have these on your car check them. You apparently can't drive on them or store them in temps that drop below 40F (5C) or risk cracking the tires.  There was a SHO with PP sitting in a snowbank at my dealer for at least a month. I guess that guy is in for a treat.

Goodyears are crap and more importantly run-flat Goodyears are even bigger pieces of crap. I have the same tires...they're still brand new, so I'm looking to hopefully get some mileage out of them before I upgrade to some quality rubber.

Go a size wider on the Super Sports (255/45/20) they will be about $250 cheaper to increase the size. I have had mine for about 1000 miles and they are great. I can't get them to break loose no matter what.

Lol thanks but I already ordered the 245s. I 255s were unavailable (back ordered).

I have the Super Sports on now for about three weeks. I really like them and stalling the car up to 2400 rpm's on the street I can not get them to break loose. Can not wait until next weekend to try them at the track. They are pricey but worth the money imho.

Interesting.  I put my winter wheels away a little too soon, so been running my SuperCar F1s in snow and sub 30F temps for the past few weeks.  I'll check to keep an eye on them.

So I got my new Pilot Super Sports put on the car today. What a freaking difference is all I can say. It's like a different car. Seriously consider these for your next set. Ride, cornering and straight line acceleration all a huge improvement. The ride is what surprised me the most. With the H&R springs especially the tire slap from the F1s was nuts, and noise is also greatly improved. I know they are pricey but so far worth every penny. Come to think of it I have never really had any issues with Michelin tires in the past. I had them on my 300M special Pilot Sports and they were a great tire also.

I am sure you have tried to get them to break loose, any luck? I can not get mine to spin at all which is a good thing.

Not really yet, wanted to break them in a bit before I try. Im going to put some miles on them tomorrow and will see. But from what I have noticed just in some spirited cornering on the gas they are solid where the F1s would have already broken free ;)

How do they do on bumpy roads/potholes?  We have little chunks of road missing everywhere after last winter.

So far so good hear, we have some pot hole half the size of the Grand Canyon here in northwest Pennsylvania. I must say these are one of the best feeling tires on the road that I have had a car in a long time. Pricey but worth it if you are looking for a summer tire. Not sure how they compare to the all season radial super sport tire but the summer ones are great.

X2 these are by far the best behaved tires I've owned, the shock from the bump impacts on the road are so much better than before. However feedback is also much improved in cornering. It's hard to explain. The F1s wouldn't give any warning before they let go. They just did. The PSS is almost telepathic, I can feel what the car is going to do and drive accordingly. From a dig (not brake boosting) no spin at all. It's so smooth through the gears it's creepy. Feels like a new car!

You will not be able to break loose from a launch either.
