Hankook Ventus V12 Evo In snow?

So I have already seen the rating on these tires in the snow, but my SHO came with a brand new set, I am planning on buying a set of winter tires and rims after I move but that will not be till next winter. I am going to be going through some snow tonight and just was wondering if I'm crazy for even trying it?

I have them on my SHO , for  a Z rated summer performance tire they handle the  snow pretty decent . Be careful if it's icy or hard packed though ...

I had these on my mazda during my first snow season ever in 2011-2012. I didnt crash, but had enough close calls to where I will never use summers in the snow again.

I'm going through the sierras tonight. Doesn't look like it'll be too bad. I already know I'm going to get a set of winter shoes but just don't have the money yet. I'll just have to take it easy

Make sure the tires are filled to recommended pressure before you set out, keep an inflator w gauge on hand if possible.

I has these on my M3 and I didn't even think about using them in winter weather. 'Summer performance tire' says it all IMO.

You mean the 35psi it says on the door? I'm running 32psi right now

35 psi should be fine, since you are running in cold weather.  Might be a bit much in warm weather.

I did it all winter here in NC. Ice sucks so don't even try it... you have zero brakes

In actual snow they drive fairly well, be careful braking but overall you can get around.

And this comes from a MS native with zero snow experience. This is the first einter I've been in NC.

I was in the same boat in terms of budget, so I went with the following all-season tires as my summer/winter setup.

https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires.jsp?tireMake=Kumho&tireModel=Ecsta+4X&partnum=545WR0E4XXL

I've been very happy with them and I was able to put down a 13.449 quarter mile on them when my car was still stock, although they do hop a little after a 93 tune. They're alright in the corners and they've done fine for winter driving, nowhere near as good as winter tires but way better than summer tires. I have 25k miles on them now and I think they should easily hit 35k miles before they're done.

Below is a link to the next set of all-season tires I plan to get if I keep the car.

Looking at the ratings on tirerack, those Kumho all-seasons rate pretty close to the Hankook summer tires for summer conditions. I ran those Hankooks on my M3 and they were great for summer, but the rears wore out really fast for some reason... (-:

Well I'm still alive haha. No the car actually handled it very well. And it was nice driving through the chain controls nice and warm. The only time I lost traction was for half a second when I hit the throttle a tiny bit too much to pass a wrx. I did pull over at an empty parking lot near the top and tested them out. Definitely spun with anything over 2k rpm.

Thanks for the feedback on the tires. I till have a little time to decide, I'm probably going to go with a true winter set and keep the v12's, they handle extremely nice when it's dry. They did Just fine to hold me over till next winter. I had the kumho's on the fiesta and a buddy with Newest version of the as pilot sports. I really like both tires except the kumho's wore down very quick for being on a fiesta

Also the colder the temp, the worse the summer tires are in the winter as they harden up. Winter tire rubber stays softer - part of the disadvantage of Summer tires in the winter. So.....what was the temp?

It was only low twenties. I was happy with the way the car handled with them but am definitely getting a set of 18's or 19's with some winter only tires

We had those on my dad's m6 when he bought it. Below 37 degrees they won't grip dry pavement on a rwd. It would break them loose at 35.
