When I first got my SHO, I noticed that the shifter was very loose and you could turn it quite a bit side to side. Upon further investigation I found that it was missing one of the two screws that hold it to the shifter rod. I have no idea what happened to it as I don't have any sort of rattle, maybe the PO took it off for some reason and lost it?
Anyways, on to the fix:
At Home Depot (You can probably find these at any hardware store or even online) I picked up a pack of screws from the drawer section in hardware.
The ones I bought were a 3 pack of "M4-.7 x 6mm" (Note the .7) Flat Head Phillips Zinc Plated Machine screws. [http://www.homedepot.com/p/Everbilt-M4-0-7-x-6-mm-Zinc-Plated-Flat-Head-Phillips-Drive-Machine-Screw-3-Piece-per-Pack-802988/204274524]
These fit perfectly in place of the original, and I went ahead and replaced the one that was it in with one of these since they are phillips unlike the original that are star.
