HOW TO HARDWIRE A RADAR DETECTOR!!

I figured i'll step up to the plate and tackle this fix up and write up a brief HOW TO as promised a while back and certainly like to keep my word so please just forgive me for my quick, brief writeup and would of liked to give a broader spectrum on the procedure but was in a rush and have been contemplating for quite sometime now if i should hard-wire and splice the wires from either the rear view camera or the front dome lights by the sunroof switch and quite honestly wasn't to comfortable with either option and certainly did not want any near future issues to arise taking this route and basically took a better yet took a more secure method, approach to this topic....
I first connected my radar on the drivers side visor and ran the wire down the A-pillar and straight to the fuse box and also secured the wires with a few mini zip ties for a nice clean look. 8)

I also ordered an Escort Direct Wire kit for my Passport 8500-X50 and a Bussmann BP/HHH ATM Add-A-Fuse from Amazon links below and a 5amp orange ATM mini fuse.

I then used SLOT #31 under the drivers side fuse compartment right above the brake pedal which is an empty safe and secure slot to install the add a fuse which is a red wire and then crimped it to the escort direct wire line which is the black wire and found a small putty plastic knife to be essential for hiding the wires between the plastic gaps neccesary and IMO was an overall a fairly easy process with some patience needed IMO..and works perfectly in this slot for power and accessory as planned and only issue was the fuse box cover needed to be left off because of clearance issues with the add a fuse and any questions you may have feel free to ask.  Z    Add a fuse.10.00 https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000GKEXK2/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1...Escort direct wire cord.  27.00  https://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003PJ6QPQ/ref=oh_aui_detailpage_o00_s01?ie=UTF8&psc=1

I will definitely have a broader spectrum of pic's with the finishing touch for ya'll later.  Z :)

Nice work! I did the same thing with mine.  One other option is to mount the remote "panel" (mute and red indicator) under the Start/Stop button.  I ran the wire across the bottom of the dash under the steering wheel panel (behind the OBD2 connector) and popped it out at the seam in the panel and just double sticky taped it.  You can see it through the bottom of the steering wheel but it's very discrete...I keep the detector dark on top.
