Messing around with the 50mm prime on my car.

Haven't used this lens in a small while, figured I'd try to mess around with it with my car tonight.
Some quick pictures, nothing spectacular.. Chicago is still very much in freeze-mode tonight.

I hope you guys enjoy, thanks for your time.

Nice!  What was the location for this shoot?  I remember last year I was in Chi-town, driving around, got lost in this concrete "highway" that was under construction, little to no lighting, near the Navy Pier.  Took me a while to extricate myself :D

Where all the elevated and lower streets are around East Wacker near the river mouth into the lake?

BTW......

Jeff is one of the Official Press Photographers for the "World of Wheels" & "Tuner Galleria" event(s) being held here in Chicago this entire weekend.

Well Rosemont, IL. actually, indoors at the Donald E. Stephens Convention Center.

Way to go Jeff! :clap2:

Too bad I was/am working, & training someone. Ggggrrrrr.....

Wish I could've attended & shagged that title of "Best Ford" a 2nd year in a row.

Congrats my friend! :ok:

Jeff, your work is outstanding, I have yet to see a photo of yours that I don't like!  Keep up the nice work...now if we could just talk you out of that banana....

You guys are too kind.

actually (I'm not a huge facebook user but I do have a fan page on there) - I was asked by the marketing director of Tuner Galleria to cover this year's event in Rosemont, IL.

Pictures can be found on the fan page: www.facebook.com/HKMediaLLC  (feel free to 'like' the page if you have a Facebook! :) )and of course, on the website: www.hkmediachicago.com

SHOdded, yes the picture above is in Chicago on Lower Wacker Drive.

Mike (BPD1151), honestly you did NOT miss much, WoW was nothing too special, and TG was okay, but the turnout in my humble opinion was much less substantial than last year ...

I have film coverage that will be up on my website and fan page within a few days two a week hopefully, depending on when my videographer sends the the completed footage over to me.

nice pics !

any more details on the camera / lens used ?

I just picked up a Nikon D3200 DSLR and a zoom lens to go with it. I still have a lot to learn , but I certainly enjoy tinkering with it. Maybe I need to watch the video it came with ha ha

this is the best I could pull off with a few seconds of editing on photobucket. I swear the pic lost some clarity downloading to photobucket for some reason and I downloaded it directly from my camera....

For the shots above (minus the primary with the quote, that one I used just a basic 18-55IS with a polarizer and uv filter) I used a Canon 50mm prime 1.4. ISO I believe was set at 400 and no external was utilized. I utilized the Canon T3 for these photos, so they are not shot in full-frame.

Jeff I continue to contemplate the wisdom on the first pic of the banana.... I'm  gonna get a T-shirt made if the phrase isn't copywrited...

BTW, looked at the pics on your link.... very impressive and entertaining.  Thanks for access!

Thank you very much, BigMac, your support means a lot. I've been in the car scene for a number of years and was in the bike racing world (following NESBA and the lines of MotoGP) for just as long. I feel it's very true.. some people just may not understand and that's perfectly okay. However, for those of us who truly appreciate motorwork (of any kind) can just as easily attest to how it can be an extension of themselves.

Hey Jeff , since your a member and more inclined towards the smaller Zoom Zoom type of cars ; have you ever contemplated a Focus ST ?

Especially the 300 Horse Power Cobb  Focus ST as seen in Car & Driver.

Plus we need an ST owner on the Forum ..... hint  hint

Lol@zoom zoom.

I have actually, well recently, since I got into Mike (BPD1151)'s SHO, the comparison between the two I find is apples to oranges, however ... yes it's been considered, eventually I know I will need a four door vehicle once Arlene and her daughter move here, so ... we've started already window shopping for a few sedans as I'm not looking to rid my S2000.

Our list thus far within budget is:
Acura TL, Lexus IS250AWD, Ford Focus ST hatch, Audi A4 (I am not a fan of German engineering for longevity reasons, personally), Honda Accord premium pckage, lightly used Acura RDX.

Torrie over at Unleashed has a pretty wicked tune for the ST Focus.  It's making like mid 300 range torque at the wheels.  That would make a very cost affective choice.  My motto is always the most bang for the buck.

... wow, that's very impressive for that size car..

Definitely a great bang for buck.. I can do this (mod it) and Arlene could potentially never know. Luckily she supports my whole car frenzy thing and actually pushes me to modify my s2000 (which I actually haven't much). I'm pretty sure if we did go the ST route, she'd want some perf goodies herself. She's a girly girl but has that adventurous tom-boy personality as well, I'm pretty lucky.

Thanks for the info, I'll actually check that out right now, she'll be visiting me within the next month and a half for my bday so I'll probably stop by the dealership just to test drive one with her.

Man I need to get out my DSLR and practice more.  I'm still having a hard time making my pics look "pro" and not "point and shoot".
