new 18" snow wheels/tires on '13 SHO

I picked up some new 225/60/18 Michelin X Ice 3 on 18X8 Drag DR34 wheels with 35 mm offset.  Was hesitant to go to 18's because I didn't think I would like the look, but they turned out pretty good.  I've only put a few miles on them, but they are very quiet for now and the ride is slightly improved over the 20's.  We have some snow and real cold weather coming and think these will work very well.

Not bad!  Did not know the 18 incher would clear the brakes...good to know.  So a light weight 18 inch wheel would be best for drag.  :)

Even with mountain snow pretty close special tires are hard to justify in AZ desert... LOL, BUT, these would be real high on my list!  :thumb:

Yeah that was the size i was going with. Im torn between the new Nokian all weather tires which my freind says are amazing, X ice 3, and the blizzaks. I just saw a listing on kijiji for some hardly used winter tires at 245/45 for $800 so now im not sure. will end up being about
$800-900 Tires
$200-400 for black steel rims.

or just get stock size blizzaks for 800.

The 18" look alot better than I thought they would.  At some point I'm going to pull the trigger on winter tires and might just go with the 18" after seeing these.

they really do look good!

i swear, the SHO handles wheels (as far as asthetic) better than the MKS.  i think those would look like pinwheels on my car  ;D

Question for you Interceptor, since I just purchased the same rims/wheel size (Hakkapeliitta R2's), do I need to buy some new lug nuts, or will the factory lugs work?

I have a Discount Tire wheel installation kit, Part #87362/21184HTD, Lug style S/D Acorn, Thread size 1/2".  They are considerably narrower than the stock lugs to fit in the wheel.

I also got a Gorilla Hub Centric ring kit, part #73-6336, wheel bore size 2.874"/73.00mm, vehicle hub size 2.494"/63.36mm.

Hope that helps.

Thanks for all the info! Getting this stuff correct is a pain for somebody who isn't an expert at cars. Can't wait to get these snow shoes on the car, getting sick of the summer tires in Minnesota.
