Hello,

after 20 plus vehicles (stuck on chevy), Just discovered you can get a ecoboost 355hp turbo in 7 passenger vehicle so I bought a 2010 Flex AWD Limited Ecoboost. Fun car so far.

Looking here for what to do first. it has 93k miles on it I don't know the maintenance history, what fluids, parts should I replace first....saw a thread on PTU fluid replacement? I am highly mechanically inclined rebuilt several engines but don't have time anymore, what should have a dealer do or local mechanic?

How temperamental are they with repairs and fluids ect.

Sean

Welcome!
I would get a BG flush on that PTU. Drain/fill the transmission fluid and change plugs.
Then buy a tune.

Welcome, Sean, and congrats on the new ride!  100% agree with Mark, he speaks from experience with the BG services.  Transmission, PTU, and RDU.  Technically, if you have access to 4 jackstands or a lift, you could easily perform these fluid exchanges yourself.  A few tankfuls of Techron or BG 44K may help also.  Def run "good" 93 gas if you can.

Also do the coolant and brake fluid/pads/rotors while you are at it.  Spark plugs when you decide on tune or no tune, as gaps are different.  Check shocks for fluid seepage, esp. If interested in h&rs.  Check and empty the intercooler as needed.  May need to wrap knock sensor wiring to prevent chafing.

Did you buy from a Ford dealer?  They might be able to pull an OASIS report for you.

Welcome to the flex club! Have you checked out fordflex.net? A lot of info over there too. Agree with the above fluid changes. Plan on doing the big brake upgrade too, with fluid replacement.
