I am new to the 3.5 TT and have this engine in my new 2017 Expedition limited. I traded my 2012 F-150 FX4 for this vehicle and love it. I remember purchasing my F-150 in 2012, dissing the Ecoboost over the 5.0L V8. I figured, since I am an exploration geologist who uses this vehicle in the field off road going up and down mountains that the 3.5 TT would not have the compression braking I needed to slow me down when I down-shifted downhill. I also figured that a smaller displacement engine would be stressed much more than a larger compression engine.
After putting over 5k miles on the Expedition, I now know I was wrong. Most other geologists who had the Ecoboost loved the engine. But I am old fashion and wanted the V8. I am very impressed.
The Ecoboost is well manufactured and tuned for power. It is the perfect engine for my Expedition.
