New Stuff....

Hey guys, Well I got two early xmas presents yesterday from my GF....3Bar MAP and 160 T-STat (from Livernois). I already emailed them for a new tune. I'm excited!!! I feel like a little kid!!! LOL

Two questions: Are there How To's for changing these two items? I looked through the How To section, couldn't find any?

Also, how happy are those who have been running with the 3bar tune? Is it a safe tune for daily driving? Any issue I should look out for?

Thanks in advance for the advice and sorry if I missed the How To's....

Lucky guy! You've definitely got a keeper, buying car parts!!! :-[

I actually think my 3bar tunes are smoother and feel better than the 4++ tune I was running before hand.

There are how to's on both of these. 3bar is about a 2 minute job with one tool. Tstat requires removal of CAI and is very straightforward task. Be prepared to catch fluid from tstat housing area though.

You have a good girlfried, she's a keeper, first make sure to email them at the correct place,info@livernoismotorsports.com and request the V8.3-BAR.160STAT.TUNE,First thing is to remove the old 2-bar which is on top of the manifold held down by one screw, then install the new 3-bar,then install the new tune,Rich is correct in regards to changing the 160stat,be prepared to have some extra coolant lying around, try to let the car sit overnight and install it in the am,try to have a bowl or large cup to catch the fluid when removing the original stat and swap the original gasket cause you will be using it on the new one,any more questions feel free and good luck.or tuning@livernoismotorsports.com

The 20 ounce bottle fits nicely into the shallow space we have. Then attach 1" inner diameter flexible hose(found at any large construction store)to threaded side of pop bottle. Buy 2' and cut down to size you want.

I haven't tried it with the hose attached yet.

Thanks Fellas!!!

SHOnUup, I am going to give your idea  try...sounds like it will work!

I emailed tuning@livernoismotorsports.com. Hopefully I get an answer today, so I can to the install tomorrow. But I am not holding my breath.

Since I will be under there, I am going to change out the plugs...What do you guys recommend?

I am currently running the stage 4x tune with the new plugs, and 160 degree thermostat as a daily driver.  Car runs great.... and I can't seem to make myself tune it down for daily driving just in case I run into someone that wants to pick on the big fat black car..... I would hate to lose to someone and wish I had my high end tune on there.  I have had ZERO issues with this aggressive tune as a daily.

Thanks SHO-TYM for the info. Makes me feel more confident when you guys reaffirm how good LMS is with their tunes.

Now I just have to be patient and hope I get it today (which I doubt).

Livernois Motorsports has really been on top of the ballgame lately, when did you submit your request for a new revised tune?maybe someone from LMS will chime in.

You will SOOOO LOVE the 3Bar tune.  Swapping out the thermostats is easy, I think I got lucky I didn't loose much coolant doing the swap.  Welcome to the 3BAR club and I think you should marry this girl.  Enjoy!

I think Rich did know something and what ever it was....It worked.

Thanks to LMS (and Rich) for getting back to me so quickly.

I got the 3 Bar and 160 T-Stat installed on Saturday. WOW, what a difference! Another winner from LMS.

Only problem and it might not even be a probelm, is I am still seeing coolant temps around 180-185. Figured I would see them drop off to the 160 range. Maybe I installed the T-stat wrong?

But aside from that, I love this new tune! AMAZING work from LMS agian.

Oh and I still managed to make a horrible mess with the coolant, when I changed out the t-stat.

That's about the expected range for coolant temps. 160 tstat just opens earlier and flows better to help out on temps with full WOT pulls. Stock tstat I hover at 190-194.

Enjoy!!!

Rich
