I recently purchased this 13 mkt ecoboost. I am a former l
Ford linc merc tech. Had 16 years as a ford drivability master tech. 8 years ago i switched my plans and now i build elevators in the iuec union.

I installed the livewire tuner tonite, plugs, t stat and airaid. I am learning the tool and ins and outs. 3bar sensor is here and hoping to install tunes friday night.

Any advice would be appriciated. Glad to be here

I always wanted an mkt... I think they're even more of a sleeper than the MKS. You will love the new power.

Welcome, glad to have you here   Def post pics of your ride and mods ...  Assuming the 3.5L Ecoboost?

Maintenance is always at the top of the list before starting on the bigger stuff:

[*]R&R trans fluid, PTU fluid, and RDU fluid
[*]R&R brake fluid (ideal time being when you decide to upgrade pads/rotors, which you will ))
[*]Replace spark plugs (you will likely do this when you add the tune) gapped to 0.030 for a tune, or 0.035 for stock - Motorcraft plugs SP534 work well for SHO apps, yours would be SP-520 for the 3.5 or SP-527 for 2.0
[*]Check the PCV system - no pooling oil in turbo intake piping or intercooler
[*]Check for loose hoses/split clamps - some hoses will come loose under boost and you will need to ADD a clamp where there is none OEM
[*]Clean both MAP sensors with MAF cleaner
[*]Use synthetic blend or (highly recommended) full synthetic 5W30 engine oil; Motorcraft filter works great, Mobil 1 EP filter if you want to step up
[*]Check coolant level (should be at the COLD FULL mark for proper operation)
[*]With a tune, you may decide to go with a colder TStat, so you may need engine coolant (Specialty Orange, I believe) at that time also

Thx, i went one colder on plugs, i had the orange coolant from when i worked on merc cougars!  170 tsat. I changed thd oil to full syntec. I wil, do trans and ptu. The car has 40 k on it. Cpo warranty and i have three dealers in syracuse i am friends with all the techs and managers. So the mkt was a smart choice. We test drove sho and didnt have the rear leg room we wanted. Thx for the help. Updating the livewire ts now!
