Well; luck is not on my side -- after inspecting all my wheels the Gunmetal Matte are done for. I've got scrapes, nicks, and gouges throughout. I'm certain it's all due to winter; too many potholes I couldn't dodge; lot of road salt; etc. I'm not happy, I thought they would hold up!

So; I have a choice--powdercoat or buy new. A whole new set is $1333 and I know for fact I will NOT run these during winter; I'm going to buy the interceptor steelies and throw some Blizzaks on them.

My guy is working hard to find match for Gunmetal; TSW has nothing; they don't know what code it is.

Here are my options; interested in feedback. I'm not pleased that if I buy all new wheels that I'm out some big money.

1. Just suck it up and buy a new set
2. Powdercoat them with color as close to Gunmetal as we can get
3. Powdercoat them flat black

Since you like the look, and since your an active modder with plenty of ways to spend your "car money", I'd say go for the refinish as close as you can... and as you say, get some winter wheels to take the abuse of the season.

So I say:    Trade for what's behind door number 2!  :thumb:

Thanks man.

I'm really pissed, I thought they could hold up LOL.

Just hope my guy can find a super close match.

It does seem the finish on the TSW isn't anywhere near what would be customarily expected.

Seems absurd they don't offer a paint code or some type of touch up kit for that matter.

I personally would obtain some price quotes for powder coating, and proceed from there.

As purchasing a whole new replacement set would seem on the high end.

Agreed with bpd1151  on powder coating but I've read that a High quality matte clear coat on  top with  several more  , with full curing in between will make for a much more durable finish .

They're based in Michigan also known as permachrome on eBay. You can read their feedback and see how good their work is. If you plan on keeping these I would inquire on how much it would cost to get them coated with their permacoat as I believe the main page price is for their permachrome coating, I'm also about 15 min driving distance away from them if you need any help.

Way to go Ahmad!… wish I had remembered them… This is a viable option…. oooooh those wheels might look stellar in black chrome!

I hate glossy wheels, why I went with matte.

I'm also fond of contrast the Gunmetal makes. I'm going to wait for my guy to find color close and look at sample. I'll inquire about matte clear coat.

These definitely didn't live up.

Buying a new set isn't an issue. It's just money I can put towards new turbos, rather do that than buy new wheels.

OK; finally figured this out. I'm going to powdercoat them--it'll cost me $500 bucks.

The closest color to Gunmetal for us is Anthracite. I called EAS, some BMW shop in California and they told me what my PC needs to find to match gunmetal.

He gave me a shot of car; this is with clear coat. I'm actually kinda liking it LOL. It's not INSANELY glossy.

OK; finding a color is a PITA!

UGH; we're down to 5 colors--waiting on swatches to come in. I want them in Matte; I do not like gloss--gloss makes me want to punch little babies.

If you're board; here are colors.

I'm kinda interested in EVO Grey and Charcoal Haze.

I like the contrast and it's very close to the bottom cladding which ties it all together.

Car looks awesome, don't change the wheel color.
