Removal of MKS grill inserts

Anyone have a write up or video on how to remove the chrome grille inserts on the 2013 and newer MKS?  I thought it would be pretty simple, but it was not so much, lol.  They are parts #1 and #2 in the following diagram.  I thought part #3 would even lift out after removing the bolts along the top edge, but it did not.  I couldn't see down into what was still holding it on.
