Shift Speed / Tap up Tap down

Hey guys I wanted to see if anyone had the same problem we have with our explorer. Not really a problem but a feature request! I like the tap up tap down feature on the explorer except I sometimes hit the tap down button while turning. This feature is active even when the shifter is in the "D" (drive position). So when driving or turning I sometimes accidentally hit the button and annoyingly is goes down a gear then eventually times out and goes back to normal.  I have figured out a way to disable it while only in the "D" position.

Would anyone else want this disabled in the Explorer or a Taurus SHO? Thoughts?

My other gripe (SHO guys shouldn't have this problem) is the explorer auto shifts when in manual mode. I also can change this if someone wants.

I know this might be a waste of a post for some but its a few things that I really wanted changed and did to our vehicle here so I want to offer to anyone else that might want.

Yes! Please! The SHO also up shifts on it's own in M mode while using the paddles in the 13+ cars. I would love it if you can disable the cars ability to shift on it's own.

Ok send an email to info@livernoismotorsports.com well go through logic and see if we can get the SHO to not upshift. We tested it on the explorer but did not test on SHO. I know where the logic is and I believe its something we can get quick. I can forsure make the change tonight but won't have a chance to verify it in our car till tomorrow

Cool beans!  Anything the driver should be aware of (cautions) once the auto upshift is disabled?

whats the scoop with this... do you need to have a tuner to make this change ? I would love to do this same thing with my fusion while in manual mode not allow the computer to upshift for me... I hate that.

Yes you'll need a tuner. I don't know if that is something we can do yet. I'm sure it's possible but logic in how the tap up stuff is terribly complicated. So while I know it's there I'll have to do some research in it. If you want it and a tuner email us at info@livernoismotorsports.com and well put it in the schedule to do it.

Also I should of been more specific this tap up feature applies to 2013+.

The 2010-2012 SHO we enable the the grade assist if wanted.

X2 on this issue. I have a 13 and in sport mode it will up shift automatically. What's the point of the paddle shifters if it shifts itself....

Not to steal the thread too much, but with the LMS Tune on a NON-PP SHO, would this or could i disable down shifting? Sort of a pain when i'm in traffic and want to cruise in second gear.... not first when i get below like 5-10mph. But the fact it lets me do a 2nd gear launch, just weird....

We haven't had anyone ask for that to be done specifically. We likely could tune for it on a case by case basis, but it is quite the undertaking. There is a HUGE amount of logic that would have to be rewritten!

Good morning, so recent developments are that we think that we have this figured out! We didn't test this on your specific strategy, but we are confident that it will work on yours too. Contact us and we will go over the details with you!

I finally had a chance to try it today, its weird it seemed to work because under part throttle from 2nd to 3rd it just touched the limiter and then shifted. Do that seemed to work. Then I did a few WOT runs from 1st to 2nd, and without hitting the limiter it it jumps to 3rd? If you want to give me a call I can clarify.I sent you an email also.
