We used to change shifters all the time.  I had a Gen 2 or 3 on my Gen 4 Taurus to replace the "club" and a MKZ on my Fusion. Lately, I've been looking at parts explosions.  Haven't looked in person yet.  Will do this week.  I don't know if I want to do this.  Somebody might.  I kinda like my T.

Oooh. Good idea. Clearly I need a T shifter in my 2013 Flex. Wonder if the sho one will fit?

I liked the T that my mum had in her SEL--dunno why they went to one I have now.

It might.

Yeah, I like the T.  It's very manly!  :angry1:

They did away with the paddles and put the gear select on it.

Yeah; except for SHO -- I have paddle shifters.

I think the Taurus shares same shifter I had in my 2012 Focus where quick shift buttons were on side.

Oh!  I thought the 13's had done away with them on the SHO.  They are pretty useless unless you are just going straight.

Nah, I got em -- yes they are kinda weird; mine aren't like yours. They just simple "paddles" behind the wheel--right side is up a gear and left side is down a gear. I don't use them much because even with track package the car won't hold a gear, it just shifts up regardless if I have it in manual mode--one of the urks that I don't like. There's a reason I would want to hold a gear in a corner without shifting up.

I remember hearing that now.  My problem with paddles is trying to shift when I'm turning the wheel.

And the trans doesn't seem to respond as quickly to the paddle input as it does by just leaving it in "D"...just seems to shift better.  I hardly ever use mine unless I'm just piddling around and not really seriously trying to go straight and fast.

I've used mine occasionally in heavy freeway traffic so it doesn't keep shifting up and down every few seconds.

They're pretty useless going straight too..they just don't shift quick enough

I've thought about taking them out.  Do they come off easy?  Would it look unsightly with them out?

My 2013 doesn't have the shifter in diagram 3. It is the one in diagram 2. I really like the T-shifter and would love to retro it.

Now that you mention it, I don't know where that third shifter belongs.  If you have paddles, why a button?  I'll have to do some more digging.  You may be able to retro the T.
