Sound screen windshield replacement

As the title says I got a sweet spiderweb crack that appeared overnight(how awesome is that) and now will be replacing it. I was just wondering if anyone had replaced there's and approx prices. I will be paying out of pocket. Is it worth it to get a new one with the Sound Screen is there a difference. I currently have it but not sure how much the difference is in price, sound etc.
Thanks,
Shaun

Also, now that I'm searching the interwebs this seems to be a problem others are having, crack started almost right in the middle and formed a T. is there a recall for this?

I HIGHLY recommend going with an OEM windshield which Is Carlite I believe? Anyway.. I have had 3 aftermarket windshields that have cracked or were defective within the last 1 1/2 years...

The previous owner of my SHO got the non sound screen glass. I can tell it is a little louder. Havent been in another SHO to really compare, just a couple F150s. Doesn't really bug me that much.

What really bugs me is that the person got it without the automatic rain sensor! I have to rotate the knob every time I want them to wipe unless I put it into continuous. Drives me crazy!.

I also had mine replaced with an oem Carlite sound screen in my MKS. It even has the little Lincoln logo on it. It was $330 installed. So, as mentioned above, it should be in the $300 range.

I thought Safelite had an OE equivalent to the Soundscreen when I had mine replaced.  They tried to tell me it was made by carlite just with a safelite logo instead.  I also requested an exact OE replacement as many others have as well regardless of what they told me.

As others have said stick with oem. Don't let anyone convince you oee is just as good.
I had a company try to do a bait and switch on me after they confirmed they were installing oem glass.
The oee they put in was like looking through a coke bottle.

To be sure you get the OEM, demand that it have the Ford or Lincoln logo on the windshield itself.

TSS is Spot on and make sure to visually inspect the windshield prior to install to verify its an exact OEM replacement with logo and all.  Z

cant you get 0 deductible glass insurance or something like that in AZ?  I though BiGMaC mentioned something about that once, since he has to replace the windshield on an anuual basis ...

I saw one of his posts that said similiar the other day. He said It cost him like $5 a year for glass coverage. I need to message him and ask. When I did a quote through Geico for glass coverage, it cost like $100 for 6 months.
