Spare tire for Performance Package

I have a 13 SHO PP and have been wanting to get a spare tire in lieu of the air compressor provided.  I stopped at a local junk yard and picked up a 17 inch spare tire and jack kit.  Unfortunately the 17 inch spare tire was to small.  Looks like 18 inch must be the minimum.  Don't know if anyone else has tried this and could offer any suggestions on where you got the spare tire and size????  I'm having difficultly finding a spare tire locally as I am trying to avoid shipping costs.

I believe an 18" spare tire kit from a Police Interceptor will fit.  A 20" wheel/tire (with tire deflated?) will fit in the well (tight) but the hold-down likely is not high enough, and the cover may not go back on.

Anyone know for sure if a Police interceptor wheel will fit? I found some steel wheels off an interceptor but not sure if it will clear my calipers. I have the PP on my 14

Have you looked for one in the salvage yards?... OEM spare should be much cheaper there.  I believe you be able to get a compact 20" that will fit in the well.

Standard 20" will fit, albeit tight. You will lose a little depth though.  I did this when I went on vacation so I had a full size spare if needed.

Is it an actual 20" as spare for those who had it from the factory?

I never actually looked to see what Ford gave us.

No, the factory spare is not a 20". I believe it's a "donut" 18".
Which doesn't make sense. If you use it the awd gets disabled due to the difference in outside diameter.

I may be wrong but I don't think a 17" will fit.  I bought a 17" spare tire off of an older model Taurus (06' ish I believe) and it rubbed on the outside face of the caliper.  When I bought my SHO I looked in the back of a non PP SHO and the spare tire was definitely a 18".  I just ordered this off ebay 2 days ago

I'll let you know if it fits but I'm fairly confident it will.

NOTE:  I just received the spare tire from the ebay address above and it does not fit.  It was an 17" rim and the rim rubs on the caliper.  Part number was #5G1Z-1007-AA.  Also note I only received a rim with no spare tire.  I called the seller and will be receiving a full refund.  Still looking for a spare tire for my SHO.  Ugh...

Oh and when I called the dealership, here are the part numbers they gave me for the spare tire:

DA5Z1015C (this is just the rim) and they quoted me $264.17
5G1Z-1007-AA

I just checked mine.... Yea the little 17" is a bummer.  Wish they'd just put run flats on them to protect the wheels!
