To the blackout crowd:

Just wondering, how old are you?  I don't care for the blacked out wheels and trim myself (but to each their own) and I'm 45.  But the trend is not the first time around.  Here's my car from 1991.  Can anyone ID it?

Partially blacked out, but just enough brightwork to make it all POP.  Good lookin car.

I am a little older than you and I like a bit of blackout as well, but the 100% (I think the slang term for it is murdered?) just never clicks for me either.  I find some contrast really sets a car off.  That is why (imho) the blacked out white cars really look good, as well as the red and grey ones being blacked out...

I'm 46, and I also don't care for the blackout look.  That's why, when I bought my Explorer Sport, I got white, rather than red.  There wasn't enough contrast between the red and the black grille, wheels, trim, etc.  I felt it needed some chrome.  But when I traded the Explorer for my SHO, I got a red one, because there was enough bright trim to set off the red.

I'm 23 and agree the contrast can look good, but I also like the sinister look of fully  'murdered out'. my sho was tuxedo so it had a slight pop with the paint and I was going to full black out, but unfortunately it died to soon.

My 03 stand is a metallic red, and everything else is dark, it looks superb in my opinion. I may grow out of it someday, but for now I just really like it. I also have a significant aversion to chrome so that is a factor for me.

Thanks man.  I had to take that bright antenna off though.  It kept collecting all the bras and panties the wimmin were throwing at me every time I drove into town with that bad low machine. :dude:
