Turning off the MyTouch display

In my 2011 Escape I can turn the display in minimal mode or completely off.  It is so nice for night driving.  Anyway to do that with my 13' SHO?  That screen is stupid bright even turned down all the way manually. I looked in the user manual and couldn't find a way to turn it off.

I'm not sure if you tried lowering the dashboard lighting dim switch located right under the left side of the instrument panel.  Z

I did, its still pretty bright and my eyes pick it up.  I love that DISP button on my other one, damn you Ford for not leaving it on future models! haha  Even the aftermarket pioneer 2 DINN dvd decks have a display off button.

I have a vcm I I with ids software and u can activate dark mode...its for police cars...I think it kills all the lights for the interior but I've never messed with it...jmr would be able to sell the directions to u to give to a ford tech if u wanted to try that

Found this response from the owner  a '14 Linconl MKT on the Explorer forum and hope it helps.

"Short answer, YES. I went out and was able to turn the MFT display OFF completely. I pushed on the cog wheel icon (Tools or Settings?). The one to the right of the House (home) icon and then selected DISPLAY. On that screen you will see Mode with options being Auto, Day, Night, Off. I pressed Off and the screen went completely dark. Instant panic! How do I get it back? I found that pressing anywhere on the screen will bring it back to life (thank goodness)."

Good luck

Good find Galaxie, was also experimenting last night prior to finding your post but my process was somewhat different, pics below of before and after lowering the brightness on the mft display.  Z
