Trying to pull my sons Saturn out of a snow drift that he spun out into and took my Export to pull him out. Hooked the snatch strap up to that eyelet hold down just to the left of the left muffler tip. Well the strap snapped and went through that black trim at the bottom of the bumper.  Couldn't believe it! Looks like I might just be able to replace that black piece as I don't think it got into the painted part. Wind chills here are -40 and my night was ruined. If its not one thing its another. Hopefully that piece won't cost much h.

That's ok. One time I got my wife's stratus stuck in a ditch by our house. It was a blizzard so I was letting her take my F-150 to work. So I got my truck to pull it out and hooked the strap to the fuel filler tube. I know, stupid. It was dark and I was not happy. Ripped the tube off and put a hole in the quarter panel. Awesome!

A real bummer.. but it could have destroyed something REALLY expensive or even snapped his car out and into yours..... I feel you, I did that once and detroyed the front of my truck and the back of the daughter's RX=7 (which I had just finished getting cherry for her)!

The joys of snow I suppose.. or a reason every car should be AWD or 4x4!

Luckily, I haven't done anything like that, but I can feel your pain!  It was nice that the F-150 had tow hooks that were easy to access and was always able to get a tow strap on something solid...but more good luck then great planning!

Ya I think I would have got it out if the strap didn't snap. Also had it in the snow mode and then switched to the mud mode and it seemed to pull better.

Bummer about the damage.  I hope you can get it fixed w/o too much trouble.

A lot you could have done with $600 but like you say, It could have been worse!

Wow $600 bucks, I assume this includes labor to have dealer repair? On my SHO I bought a new unpainted lower portion of rear bumper only cost $125 from tascaparts.com. And probably don't even have to remove bumper to replace 2 rivets on each end the rest just snaps in.

Ya that price was from a body shop I have used with the wife's SHO. I probably could just buy the lower black portion and save a few dollars and put it on myself but not real sure how that piece is attached and it looks like it's the whole lower portion of the bumper..
