The Sync system is built into the head unit. So no that Sync was NOT retained. But, supposedly the new generation of Alpine head units will have some sort of voice commands. I can get around it by using Android Car mode.

As for the Subs, if you do nothing then theoretically, all factory speakers will be in use. For my install factory subs (deck) and surround speakers are driven by factory amp. Doors, tweeters and subs driven by external Alpine amps.

By the way, if this kit is new trust me it is a steal at $150. They retail for almost $400. So if you are intending to install aftermarket stereo, jump on this.
