Looking to sell my LMS purchased SCT X3 used to tune my 2011 Taurus SHO PP. If you have the same ECU strategy as me you are good to go but if not you will need to purchase new tunes from a tuner (such as Torrie). I ended up going with a mycal some time ago which is why I am finally selling. I would highly recommend you talk with your tuner to make sure they can program YOUR car with it before purchasing.

The tuner is not "married" to the car...see pic.

strategy code is: DMJK6A2.
Asking $200 shipped to the lower 48.

I am in Minneapolis MN.

Since you have had experience with both on the same car, what were the differences between the two approaches?

Could you do a simple Pro/Con?

Well I will try but a lot of it depends on what tuner you go with.

They both tune the car in similar fashion - you plug it in and it reprograms the stock computer.  The X3 might have taken a little longer to  program, but not substantially.

The SCT X3 is the previous model and I believe LMS won't tune with it anymore or if they do you can't go with a 3 Bar Tune.  They now exclusively use the Mycal.  It still wakes the car right up and performs well.  You also get some level of scanning capability with the X3 (you still need to hook it to a laptop) that you don't with the newest mycal.

Torrie as I understand will tune with it (although he offers the X4 on his site now) and I believe can do the 3 Bar Tune.  So you could buy this and have him tune your car with it without issue. That said I would recommend you talk with Torrie about that if you have questions and to double check what I said.

If anyone else can chime in on the differences feel free!
