2014 Explorer Sport - Leaking Turbo

74k on the vehicle.  In for an oil change and noticed the FRONT turbo is seeping oil down onto the front frame and to the front tranny mount, under the bell housing.  It must be rather small, overall, as I don't notice an appreciable oil loss on the dip stick - half a quart in 5,000 miles.

I do notice the vehicle almost misses/has a lope to it's idle when cold.  It also chugs a bit - like a 70's muscle car, when it's cold.  Otherwise, power it there and there is only a slight bit of gray smoke coming out the rear pipes on WOT.

I've read about the leaking banjo bolt/seal - perhaps that's all it is?  It goes in Tuesday to check it out more closely.

Any thoughts/words of wisdom to look out for?

Thanks,
Shumax

Mist likely the oil feed line, as you suspect.  Unless you saw a loose or cracked pipe that would allow pooling oil to escape.  The sheer volume tho to me points to the line.

The other symptoms could be from low oil pressure, as that woukd affect the timing.  Wouldnt completely rule out fuel related, but we can look into it once the turbo issue is resolved.

The timing civer does leak on occasion as well.

No codes, right?

I do notice some oil in the galley near the front back on the passenger side of the engine now that you say it.  Also looked under the plumbing for the air intake and the top of the engine is wet - near the starter.  Hmm...

No codes that I know of - no CEL.

Could be a valve cover also then.  Only heard of that in the SHO, but ...  check intercooler also for crud.

Thanks, all.  Vehicle is completely stock.  No tunes, etc.  I'm not sure I even know HOW to pull the codes.  Input?

Thanks!

Easiest way?  Get an auto parts store like advance Auto, autozone, O'Reilly's etc to read them for you.  Might even print them out 4 u.

If you want to DIY, you will need an OBD II adapter, a smartphone and software to talk with the cars computers.  Might sound intimidating but far from it!

Confirmed today to be the oil supply line seal to the front turbo.  Also replacing the front strut mounts, for the third time, and then align.  Parts ordered and the work happens Friday.
