2015 Ford Edge Sport 1/4 Mile Time

GT500R

New member
Was able to head to the track this weekend with a fellow Edge owner and see if we can break our old records of 13.4xx.

Conditions were pretty good, -500 to -1300 DA as the night went on.

One of the most frustrating things I have with this car is the inability to cut anything less than 1.9xx 60 foot... no matter what I do, 2000 rpm or 2900 rpm and a little slip vs. no slip, still can't get it below that magical 1.9 time.  Same with the other Edge owner.

Mods - LMS 93 Tune | K&N Filter | Winter wheel (-7 lbs a side)

Best time (CAR 7901) -

Was able to get a lot of runs in as you can see -

Congrats GT500R those are certainly some impressive numbers for an Edge for sure.  Z  :thumb:

Thanks, getting better and better.  The other time was on my fastest slip is another Edge owner with race gas / lightweight wheels.

Very nice :thumb:. Maybe you could be a testbed for AJPturbo if he's up to it ;)

Is AJPturbo a tuner?  I have already put 3 different tunes on the Edge since ownership, LMS so far is the fastest.

Yes sir , I am a tuner. I would love to try to see whats possible with the 2.7 in the edge. Although i wonder if the slowish 60' is due to the smaller displacement and auto trans and awd combo...it is awd correct?

Cool.  Probably combination of small displacement and crappy AWD.  I see a lot of the F150's with their 4WD and some Explorer sports with the 3.5 cut 1.7 or 1.8, but not the Edge.

PM me if you want me to test anything out, I already had 3 tuners, what's one more right?

The damn AWD in my wife's Explorer lets the front spin too much before it kicks in the rear.  1.95 is the best I could do.  AJP, I want to run as quick as his Edge!  Those were awesome conditions!

Same with my Edge, the front spins if I give it a really hard launch and then kicks the rear to help out.  I am glad to see others have a hard time getting the 60' below 1.9 also!

You have selectable AWD right? Have you played with different modes?

Do you have the AWD gauge?

My SHO doesn't behave like that, it dumps power to the rear on launch according to wheelspin and the AWD gauge.

Mine does the same, on a flat foot launch from a stop it takes a moment to engage the rear, but on a brake boost launch it engages almost instantly once the brake is released.

I tried sand mode in the rain to see if it would work better, but it sure felt like it was only spinning the front just as far as normal mode.  Maybe it was all 4 spinning!  I'll have to try that again.  I thought sand mode was supposed to be 50/50.  Yes, I have the gauge.  It just doesn't feel like what it is displaying.  The harder I launched it, the worse the 60ft.  Around 2k seemed to be the best.  It went over 2.00 with about 2500rpm launch and it hopped the front tires.  Hopping causes breakage, so I backed off.

Launch is a super touchy thing on these cars, especially once you tune and change power levels. I used to launch at 2200-2400 when it was stock, and that was my best launch location. Now, like you said, I have to launch at about 1800-2k, anything above that the car spins a lot, and 60' gets worse. I would suggest playing with a lower than 2k launch and seeing what happens as well.

Tire pressure makes a big difference also, tire compound on a high mileage tire will also be bad for 60fts..
