3 Bar Map

Hey all,

I am looking at purchasing a 3 bar MAP used, for about $30, unknown miles, but in working order. I know it requires a tune, and I plan to just keep it until I am ready to fully mod my SHO. Any thoughts, comments, concerns as to buying it used? I know I can get one for ~$47 to my door from rock auto.

Thanks in Advance

FYI for a few bucks more you can get a brand spanking new sensor which is hassle free and no worries on the functionality aspect considering its an electronic item...IMHO.  Z

Yeah, I know rock auto has them for about $47 to my door. Its an ebay listing, and im at my max bid, so if I get outbit ill just get the one on rock auto when I get everything else.

X2 on just getting a new one.  There is an o-ring seal which you will want fresh.  There is a lot of heat exposure. Might even just follow prices and buy when your ready to use it

I'm sure that a used sensor will work just fine, but I found it easy to just go to the dealership and pick one up.  It will cost you $50ish plus tax, but you then don't have to worry about anything.  Another option is Tasca online.  They have them for just under $50 plus shipping.

My VERY general rule of thumb is that a used car part is worth half the new price.  That would put a used 3 bar MAP at a maximum used value of $25 for me.  Granted...I'm cheap.

Damn Derfdog.....Does your sig say 2015 PP? Are times that tough? What was the sticker on that SHO?....Pretty penny Id say...Maybe i'm weird but it seems odd to throw flea market parts on her

Nothing wrong with saving a dollar, AJ, and who pays sticker anyway LOL.  And if you didn't buy it new, that would mean an even better bargain.

That said, my preference would be NEW IN BOX > FORUM (USED) >>> USED from anywhere else.

Thanks everyone for the replies. For the record, I got my car as a special order, for about 15k under sticker after rebates, my trade in, etc.

If I was ready to start modding the car right now, then I would just go ahead and get a new one, but since its going to sit around a while, I figured if I got a good deal on stuff, why not?

But as it sits the bid has gone past what I am willing to pay for a used part, so ill just wait and it get new from rock auto.

I'd say if you're not going to mod for a while then just wait to get one.  You're not going to miss out on some super special price on one or anything.

PS...How's it going!?  LOL!

Thanks for the input, I watched the auction till the end out of curiosity and someone payed $41 plus 4.95 to ship, that less than a dollar away from a new one from rock auto :O

Going pretty well, I graduated and am moving to a new city and a full time position here shortly. WBU? Hope the wheels are still working out!

I always try to buy used parts when possible when it makes sense.  Don't let people dog you for what you can, or cannot afford.

For a part under $50 though...I'd just get a brand new one.  Just my opinion.
