Adding a Processor: Best Bang for the BucK

After having the suggestion put out there while upgrading the OEM Sony system to include a processor before my amplifiers, what recommendations do people have for best bang for the buck?
Note: Upgraded system will only be front soundstage components and subwoofer

I might have to use that in the V and do a sub, system is good but surprisingly not as good as the Flex.

If are looking to go that route, Amazon has them for $443 right now.
Things I have to buy and install:
Blacked out headlights
Lower pulley
camshaft

Things I've bought that need to be installed:
Injectors
BAP
ZL1 lid
Nitrous setup from Flex

Once I get that done and have some 10 second slips I'll think about audio. :)

What about an Audison Bit 10? They tend to be about $400.

I know the Premium Sound Quality shop we have in St Louis, that's the cheapest one they offer. lol

Closest thing Ive used is the Kicker Sum8, and didn't really care for it. Kicker now has a Front Stage(or center stage) processor, and I wouldn't mind trying it out. I get kicker at about 75% off retail, so it would be dirt cheap to "try".

Edit: Kicker is called Front Row. Retail $250, my cost is well under $100. LOL

If you can get me one for $100 I will give it a try for you.

Front Row looks cool, missing critical features of a processor (and amp channels) but might work, might not.

Was turned off by this line in the "Hype" section , "Simulated 5.1 Surround Sound "

Is there anything at around $200 that will give decent performance and just give me a clean signal to run to my amps?

Nope, just go direct.  You'll be fine.

Or use line drivers.

These things are not processors though.

Downside of the MS8 is that it is largely an automated process.

My local shop is trying to sell me on the Mosconi 6to8 DSP for $421.

Yes you are right, and I hate that it is automated.  BUT, it does work, and it is still tunable in ways that matter, so don't let it bother you so much, at least until you try it and see for yourself.

As for the Mosconi, heck yes awesome product, BUT does it do center channel?  I'd dig in the thread but A:  I'm banned from DIYMA (for calling Ant out for who he is), and B: I'm not looking at 51 pages of thread.  BTW, Ant ruined DIYMA.  I'm in there (as Fourthmeal), I was there before Ant and it was a much better site.  All the post-Ant people made other sites you can visit and learn more if you want.

I like to learn enough to just make sure my local shops don't screw me over.  I don't have the skill or time to full install myself.  Plus, if there weren't lazy asses like me how would a shop stay in business?

With that said.  What do you think of this install quote?

$420 for Mosconi 6to8 (I'm told this is a great deal)

Otherwise $1235 for install of front 6.5 components, two amps, tuning the DSP, completely sound deadening the front doors and trunk, and lastly supplying all the necessary wiring and dampening material.

I'm providing the front components, sub box, and amps, nothing else.

Seemed to be a good price to me given the inflated prices of the DC area.  Another shop quoted $2,030 for the same work without DSP tuning.
