AirBag light

So I had a 2013 Limited before I got my 14 Sport. I was driving across the country in my limited when suddenly the airbag light came on. I called a dealership and they informed me that it means my air bag system is disabled because of whatever the issue, needless to mention I got all warm fuzzies inside knowing I had 5 more states to travel through with no air bags. I stopped that night and stayed in a hotel. Next day I hit the road the air bag light was off and never came back on again. Now on my 14 sport my air bag light came on and has been on for 2 days now. I even cleared the code and it immediately came back on. So I'm here at the dealer now having it checked out, I had to remove my 3 bar and revert to stock since they will def need to be in the ecu. Driving it stock again was so disappointing, I forgot how much my tune did for me. Anyway I'll report back when they get it figured out

What with the airbag recalls going around, this is just disappointing!  Hopefully a PCM/BCM update will fix the issue.  Sometimes it is triggered by a sensor that is blocked or a loose connector.  Make them go over it with a fine toothcomb :D  And don't settle for a Fiesta rental if you get one.

Good luck on the fix dude, sometimes these intermittent issues are a pain, there is a likely a TSB regarding the airbag light, hopefully they resolve the issue and good luck.

Ok so after 2 1/2 hours they said they had to order a part. I asked what part? Apparently the tech who worked on my X had just left for lunch and the other guy couldn't tell me what it is, he said some electrical module. I left the dealer, parked and put my 3 bar and tune back on. I had to clear the dtc. It hasn't come back on again (I cleared it before it kept coming back) so next Wednesday when they replace whatever it is I will update. Hoping to finally get to the track on Sunday and it would be nice to know my airbags are working, kinda bumb timing

There should be more to it than just B14....I was going to look it up for you.

Just checked and B14 is a restraint control (airbag, seat belts, etc) but without knowing the rest of the code I can't tell specifically which airbag or seat belt.

Yea that's why I put the two ??. I don't remember what it was and its not on right now. Next time it comes on, if it does I'll check it again. The thing is in the past whenever I tuned I would get the dtc for running board wiring, but I have no running boards. I seem to have an electrical issue somewhere and I'm hoping they get it solved for good next week.

http://edgeproducts.com/app/uploads/2014/08/customer_support_article-pdf-41.pdf Have a look.  Also confirmed by dealership. Either way it doesn't matter at this point as I would not be qualified to try any type of repair myself and it's still under warranty. That old dtc was when I had originally tuned and it only showed up when I was tuning so idk what that's about, either way I cleared it and it hasn't come back, unless I am changing times, and not every time either, just some times. So kinda odd

You can't go by generic coding.  I am looking at the dealer on line service manual for your vehicle.  There is no B1214.  Those on line coding charts may point you in the right direction but the OEM SM is the bible.

I always like to know what's going on with my vehicle that's why I choose to pay for access to the OEM service manual.  If nothing more than for piece of mind.

This is exactly what the dealership confirmed with me. So idk what to tell you. I can give u their number and u can argue it with them I suppose

jmr061, I just read my last comment and it came off a little hot handed. That's not my intention, stupid forums you can't tell attitude in posts (actually my wife pointed it out). I appreciate you looking in to it. This is just what the dealer told me as well. But like you I also like to know exactly what is up with my vehicle, that is why I'm a little ticked that they couldn't even tell me at the dealer what they ordered to try and fix. I'll post the update next week after the appointment

No offense taken. I just hope they didn't send you home with a defective restraint system. That's a liability issue.  It would be interesting to know what part is bad and I agree that they should have been able tell you what they ordered.

Speaking of defective restraints. Twice now my 4 year old has broke his inflatable seatbelt in the second row. If my 4 year old can break the locking mechanism while trying to buckle it in, how in the actual hell would it hold up in an accident? I'm very concerned by this and that will be getting replaced once again next week as well (hopefully)

Ok so a quick update on this. Oh first I'll start by saying they sent me home in my explorer with non functional airbags. Here I am 10 days later and they finally got me back in to do whatever the repair is, they still can't tell me what it is! So I just gave the guy a little piece of advise about not letting people leave their parking lot with non functional airbags (still  original factory warranty as well) on said vehicle because if I were to have been hit and my airbags didn't deploy they would be looking at a lawsuit. All they said was yea sorry about that. So I asked again what part was being repaired/replaced and the service guy still couldn't tell me. He said he'll let me know when he finds out. I've been here 30mikes now and still haven't been told what it is
