Hey guys! Long time no see! Hope everyone had a great Thanksgiving! Well the baby has been keeping me busy, and has also put a full stop to any performance mods on the Explorer for the foreseeable future. I’ve decided to sell my AJP Turbo “Boost Regulator” kit. This is a complete** boot-on kit that will work for an Explorer or SHO.
**NOTE: If installing on a SHO, you will need 2x 2.5” hose clamps. No additional parts are required for the Explorer, since hose clamps can be reused (SHO has molded clamps, which cannot be removed). Modifications to your custom tune are required to see any benefits from this mod - contact AJP Turbo for tuning support.
I had this installed on my 2013 Explorer Sport for one year and 20k trouble-free miles.
The Tial wastegate includes all the springs normally included in the full kit to dial in your tune. There is also a brand new air hose (CAC outlet to elbow) included for SHO installations, so you can keep your OEM charge pipe plumbing intact. Explorer owners do not need this hose, as OE hose is utilized.
The included Turbosmart Boost Reference Adapter installs on the intake manifold in the MAP port. Note, I was not able to install the beauty cover because the sensor stood too proud with the BRA installed. I believe (unconfirmed) some short spacers could be installed under the beauty cover studs to allow clearance and installation of the beauty cover, if desired.
Over $459 to build this kit from new parts:
Tial MV-S Wastegate Kit ($264 new)
SHO Elbow/Airtube Assembly AA5Z-6F073-B ($103 new)
Stainless Elbow & Flange Welding ($52 parts & labor)
Turbosmart Boost Reference Adapter ($40 new)
Asking $299 OBO with transaction completed via PayPal Friends & Family. I will ship UPS Ground to the lower 48 for no additional charge.
