AKEBONO Ceramic Pads

I am definitely happy with the Motorcraft PP pads but i was looking to possibly upgrade to the AKEBONO ACT1611 ProACT Ultra Premium Ceramic Pads that should fit the front on a PP SHO and the rear's are AKEBONO ACT1612 and the only reason is because i had great results on my other cars with limited brake dust and overall great stopping power and they were very quiet to the touch and the best part is they do make both the front and rear's for the PP which sometimes can be a pita to find a matching set especially with aftermarket pads. If you try them, let us know how they work out.  I tried AKEBONO ceramics one time 95 SHO) and for me that was enough.  Went back to Performance Friction semimetallics.  Dusty but trusty.

-MANU Thanks for the heads up.....might just stick with the Motorcrafts which are also much cheaper.  Z        Motorcrafts 13+ PP-SHO

I would definitely pair ceramic pads with high carbon rotors for best performance.  Ceramics are hard on rotors.

Looking at throwing out the OEM PP front pads, way too dusty. Gonna have to price some of the Akebono ceramics, or does anyone else have some recommended ceramics?

Thought I would throw this out....my favorite is Hawk hp, never had any rotor problems or mismatches,  dusty but not really bad and to me the performance upgrade is worth it, good in winter and summer and wet. Years ago Performance Friction was the go to street pads. These SHO PP set is ok, works as described,  I can't wait to throw on the Hawks when I need them.

Now here's a question, what's the difference between '10-12 SHO PP brakes and '13+ SHO and Police brakes? Looks like they are definitely different part numbers.

The part numbers are all over the place...from what I understand, all the calipers/rotors went to the larger format in 2013...but there are still differing part numbers. I know that I went with 2013+ SHO package (which also is '13+ Police package) calipers BRCF208/BRCF209, which it doesn't seem those particular pads would fit. The Akebono ceramics for my caliper would look to be ACT1611

Yeah, sorry, forgot to mention that I've done the SHO PP/Police caliper/rotor swap on the fronts. The OEM semi-metallic pads are ridiculously dusty. Hence wanting to go ceramic.

Same with the Raybestos Police spec PP pads.  They are making a mess of my wheels.  To the point that I'm cleaning them twice a week just so they don't look too horrible.  One short errand run has my wheels dusty.  Three to four has my wheels black.

Those Akebono's are looking pretty good!  I would also need the PP pads as I swapped calipers also.  Cheapest brake upgrade ever!

Seriously, when I worked the prices, even with all Motorcraft parts, it ended up being like $100 more than a standard rotor/pad swap. A little extra work, but WELL worth it, IMO. Hell, Rockauto even took my old non-PP calipers on core.

I hope they live up to there expectations and are Dust-free for many, many days to come.......Best of luck and keep us updated on any progress.  Z

Had pretty good luck with EBC rotors/Red Pads, will be updating soon not sure if to go with reds again or possibly yellow pads.

So thats all the extra it would be to do the fronts and rear with PP calipers. Rotors. Pads. ? Or $100 front and $100 rear.

Rear calipers are the same between '13+ PP and non-PP
