I contacted bluebat to ask about doing tail light overlays to tint SHO / Taurus tail lights and he says he would take on the project if someone in the area has a test vehicle to try. His stuff is all over the internet. bluebatmobile@san.rr.com

Sign me up, I'm about an hour north of Diego.

e-mail him and make arrangements to meet so he can take measurements and use your SHO to make the overlay templates. He responds pretty quick. Check out his work on line he's been around doing this forever. Remember to get overlays for the lower reflectors in the bumpers too :)

ask about doing your roof that might look sweet on a white SHO !

as I recall from my G35 days he uses top quality film and film cutting methods.

Pricing... And install?

I want to say it has always been $60 and you install the films yourself.

by usings his films the tint is shiny not flat finish like the spray tints and the process is simple like doing window tint. He can probably do the all solid black in different darknesses and if you want the turn signals / back up lights exposed I'm sure he can do that too. I know he has always offered different variations of his films for the same car.

he used to be bluebatmobile and now goes by bluebat. Been around for a long time. No webpage, but tons on his photobucket here.....http://s2.photobucket.com/user/BlueBatmobile2005/library

Will do, I'm out of state for work currently so it looks like next week will be feasible.

68…. Thanks for the info…  :alkashi:

btw the link only accessed 2 pics and no lighting films when I tried it

So application is at user's domicile.  It may be an easy way to do it, but I suspect the end user will still be trimming even with a template, right?… I mean at the edge of the object like a twilight or a bright strip on the body… At least that's what I found with Lamin-X

No dis intended to what is clearly a cool service  :thumb: , but I feel obligated to let folks know that 5 year guaranteed film from 3M costs about $20-$25 per linear foot in 60" wide films…..in almost any color/translucency you can imagine and some, like carbon fiber look, also have texture.  Given the size of things we tint that's alot of coverage… so you still apply (without worrying about positioning very much) and then trim…. really just score and peel off the extra.

Again, no dis to anyone, but even on the compound curves of the SHO tails I was able to do it the first time acceptably (pics are up here)… And If I can… so can anyone.

Here's one tip…. if you scratch the film applying it, just fire up a soldering torch and literally just wave it over the film (for like 1-2 seconds)…. These films will "heal themselves" this way long before the area even feels warm
