wondering if there may be a universal intake kit like airaid that I could make a tube section but keep the stock air box. Cheap, and get the turbo / blow off noise and not loose any performance ??

I have..and noticed the iat's rise and drop a little slower than the K&N & Airaid..I used a spare piece of 3.5'' Airaid tube. And its quieter too.

did it sound any different than stock, or like the Typhoon sound  ?

I think I have a spare piece of K&N plastic intake tubing I can try that too :)

IAT's rise slower is good but they drop slower than the K&N ???

Cool idea.. and great looking job.  We need to figure out how to get real cold air in without a long tube.

Nitrous.  ;D :alkashi:

Ya... but NOS is also an anesthetic gas... It's for a push button surprise!  :burnout: :alkashi:

The tube that goes to the throttle body, how can we get rid of the stocker noise maker?  Heard the Lincoln tube does not have this device? Anyone have a picture under the hood of the Lincoln version of the SHO?

I did a little looking around and couldn't find the diagrams I wanted but,  You may be able to swap the piece that the noise sender goes into with the MKS piece.

The biggest problem with the stock box is the restricted intake and the "saxophone" coming out... 68GT definitely has the idea.. that's what 4DR and I want to eliminate as well in the new dual CAI under development.

A lot of the idea can be seen in the install instruction manual for the Hennessey CAI although they still use the OEM intake cut off the box  :naughty: ... they do eliminate the saxophone with it's 180 degree curve and tapering diameter.  :thumb:  Pics here in their install manual on pages 3 and 4.  Plus they have a separate tube for each turbo and eliminate the crankcase recirc into induction air that is present on the stock intake.  The Hennessey pics are here and include SHO and MKS

bpd also did and still has a "one of" single intake... I think it's in a "how to" thread here.

As far as the new one 4DR has been working on (and I joined in on at his invitation) should have all the info from Jeremy at BMR so we can have a custom fab of the first one started in about 2 weeks... We'll have Jeremy dyno my SHO stock and then again with the new dual CAI on the same day... and we are also talking about a third step: having it coated and dynoing again to see if it is worth doing the thermal coating.  Along the way we'll be doing underhood temp studies for the PPE coating of my downpipes too... More on this last stuff later.

stocker noise maker ??? what part are you talking about ?

Right off the intake manifold on the SHO, there is a funny looking "L" shaped device coming off the intake feeder.  This is supposed to send engine noise back towards the cockpit.

Last pic on the Henn link .... Shows the tube going to the TB, noise maker not there.  Anyone find a part number for replacement.

I don't think I notice any engine noise from it but why delete it ?

seems odd the trouble they go through to make it quiet then add a noise maker at the same time ?!?!?!

Thankfully they only use a sound tube (The Mustang GT 5.0 also has one also and people were deleting them). BMW actually plays engine/exhaust sound through the radio speakers. Go figure.
