Have some curb rash from previous owner...anyone ever use a wheel repair service? If so, is it worth it?

use a place that insurance uses. LKQ or similar. my rim had some curb rash from having to drift around a car that popped out of a side street. They welded the spots with more aluminum missing. Good for about a year so far.

My wife was swiped by an old lady in a caddy going to Costco. Luckily all she did was rub back wheel real good, no suspension damage. The repair was covered by her insurance and we brought it to a repair shop on South Van Dorn in Alexandria, VA, they do collision repair and bring in someone else to do wheel repair. The repair was ok on our flower wheels, however the repair was very noticeable and my wife said I don't care we want a new rim, as the repair is not good enough. Luckily for us the insurance covered both the repair, new wheel and a rental car for almost two weeks. You can try the wheel repair, however I was not super happy with the look. Good luck.

FWIW, two of my wheels showed very minor signs of being corrected when I bought the car.  A year later, the spots are much more pronounced.  The finish has not held up well in those spots and they are eventually going to need correction again or a wheel replacement.

That's with the temperamental finish on these PVD chrome wheels though.  Maybe a wheel with a regular painted finish would hold up better.

i used WeldCraft Wheels to widen some wheels on my Mustang. I also had them fix some dings in the lip from when I jumped a curb. they did great work

I can confirm that they do crack upon impact. I had to miss a guy pulling into my lane and ended up smacking a curb. The front and rear passenger wheels were badly damaged. The front one took the burnt and cracked on the lip. The wheel shop I've been going to for years drilled a hole at the end of the crack to prevent it from cracking more and then welded the face and back of the lip and added more aluminum to make it flush. The problem that occurs is that the flower wheels have the "diamond" serrations, or whatever it's called, and When any repair shop fixes the cosmetic defect it'll never look the same because they can't recreate those machining etches. So you'll be left with one section smoothed to a polish and the other factory etched.
