Avg 14.2 a gallon

I drive my car like an old man and I'm averaging 18 mpg according to my computer. I get around 26 on the highway. Would like to know how some of y'all are getting better I run nothing but Shell VPower 93 with the stage 4 tune.

yep, i think somethings wrong with an O2 sensor.

according to the Torque scan today, several pings came up showing a problem:

O2 Heater Monitor Bank 3 - Sensor 4
Max: 40  Min: 26,721
Test result value: 880
FAIL

I'm going to try and bring it in to the dealer and had them take a look, after going back to stock of course...

First off: have you double checked your actual mpg rather than just going by calculated values to see what you're actually getting?

Second: what effect do catless DPs have on the o2 sensors? I know most will throw a cel without the corrections made in your tune to over ride the cel, but what else? I assume the sensors still function correctly, just outside of their normal limits correct?

At 13k mi you SHOULDNT be having any issues with sensors, cats aren't an issue because you don't have them any more, and although EGR could effect mpg and/or mpg readings, you should be 100k miles from issues there as well.
This leads me back to your o2 sensors, not that they're bad, just that they haven't been told to look for new limits yet, so your computer thinks they're running extra rich = poor mpg. If this is the case, your actual mpg (miles driven divided by gallons used) should be much higher than your calculated mpg.

As an example, when I bypassed the EGR on my mazda, the EGR valve was taking in fresh air instead of exhaust, so as I hit cruising speed and the ECU leaned out the mix by adding EGR catalyst and advancing timing, it thought I was getting much better mpg than I really was due to higher o2 sensor readings than the ECU expects. It says I'm getting 36mpg when I'm only getting 24. The opposite of your problem.
Has LMS incorporated your downpipes into your tune?

I have an appt at the dealer soon, will have a few issues to look at,a while back went to my local target store and had some stp octane booster on clearance, bought about 20 bottles,2.00 dollars ea,after adding a bottle here and there,no where in the bottle did say safe for 02 sensors, maybe could of contributed to the low mpg.

In the mean time you can fill up w gas and reset your trip meter. Next time you fill up, see how many miles you've driven and divide. That'll at least clue you in to your actual fuel mileage.

Maybe someone else can chime in to what exactly the changes are to the o2 sensors from the tune once the DPs are accounted for.

There aren't any changes to the 02S. They only physical change that is typical after a DP install is an anti fouler. But, haven't seen anybody here using them.
As far as the changes in the tuning, it should just be a set of closed loop fuel tables. But, it seems highly unlikely that they were ignored/overlooked so grossly when the tune was mailed out.
The upstream 02S plays little to no role in the ECUs FI factoring, in open loop operation.

My absolute worst tank was 15.9mpg and I calculate every tank when I fill up again. I've got around 50 tanks of gas logged. The 15.9 occurred during a month of pretty much nothing but below-freezing temperatures. My average over all those tanks is an even 20 at this point.

No mods aside from my immense willpower to go faster. 21000km (13000mi). All stop and go. I punch it a bit. Never to floor.

Well once in a while to floor.

K, once a day for this nice little hill. :P

No other symptoms, kinder?  How many miles on your SHO?  Stop-n-go driving is fatal to mpg.

OK; so I got a huge list of mods and I'm getting 23mpg and I do a lot of city/highway combined in PA.

Something ain't right with your car.

Very nice!  Doesn't hurt the 1/4 mile times with the driver actively working towards lean 'n' mean!

LOL; I haven't posted update in a long time -- got tired of it. I do all my posting on IG.

I'm down to 278 from 315. I'm cut like a SOB. Almost there; just need to hit 250lbs.

Hoping to see 12.5's again or at least more consistent in warmer temps.

I thought my 19.5 mpg in the DC metro traffic was bad. After reading this thread I realize I'm doing pretty good. I get around 28 highway. Only mod is a CAI.
