Blackstone used oil analysis - 2010 MKS w/ 130k miles

Sent in oil to Blackstone for the first time.  I use 5.5 quarts of 5w20 Mobil 1 with a motorcraft filter and religiously do an oil change every 5k miles.  I got the car at about 40k miles and it was always serviced by the dealer prior to me owning it, so I'll assume it got motorcraft 5w20.  Looks like I've got a healthy engine that likes Mobil 1!

I was a little nervous how the results would be.  You never know once you hit 100k+ miles.  Couldn't have asked for better test results.

Yep.  The 10's call for 5w20.  I probably could get away with 5w30 too, but the 5w20 seems to be working just fine.

Ahhh, okay. That's interesting. Thanks. :)

I asked someone else with a 4.1 the same the other day, but no on told me why :/

IIRC however, if you take a 4.1 to ford they will put 5w-30 in it, take that with a grain of salt. I am going to be using 5w-30 on my mustang turbo build as well, just seems a bit safer IMO (car originally called for 5w-20)

The reason Ford made the change in 2011 was because they changed the mileage interval in which they recommended oil changes.  In 2010, the recommendation for normal service was 7500 miles or 6 months whichever occurred first.  In 2011, the recommendation was to rely on the message center or every 12 months whichever occurred first.  The longer interval required the 5w30 due to possible oil dilution during the longer interval.
