Blowing off cap on throttle body servo drive?

Has anyone had problems with blowing off the gear cap on the side of the throttle body?  Mine keeps coming off. I've tried snapping it in but it doesn't hold.

Thoughts?

Haven't seen that one before.  You could try to glue it.
Just use a glue that's temp appropriate for the engine bay

I've never heard of it before either. I found it popped off laying under my throttle body so then I put it back on and the damn thing came off again. Only this time it fell underneath the damn intake manifold.

I was thinking of adhesive, but I don't understand what is making it come off. I'm not sure if boost pressure is filling that housing and popping it off or what is happening.

I wonder if there are any other seals internally or just the external seals.

It's raining out and now I'm tempted to check mine :|

A high-temp adhesive should be fine, you can get it at your local automotive store. It looks like it's held in by friction so I would probably just place a couple dots of adhesive around the perimeter and press firmly, leave it overnight to dry.

Mine has been gone for years. Pretty sure it is getting blown off by boost pressure. As I have seen many other SHO's with that piece missing.

Well huh...now I know I'm not alone. Lol.

The cap has an o-ring and is held in by 4 small snap tabs in the middle.

The only thing I'm concerned about is getting grit in the servo mechanism over time. I couldn't feel any vacuum leaks or anything.

I'll look into an adhesive.

If it is boost that is blowing it off then that means boost is getting thru it. So with no cap you now have a boost leak.  Or am I missing something?

^I'm glad somebody finally said it. Lol! Air escaping from the TB or servo motor sounds like an abnormality which needs correction.

I think it could be from shutting the throttle plate under high boost. The pressure build up cannot be related quick enough so some escapes though the servo. I'm not sure anything but a very serious adhesive will keep it in place. Then you will never have access to this point. I think it's best to leave it off.

I do not wash my engine bay so I am not worried about water.

That cap sure does not look like a reliable source of a air pressure seal, that cap should be addressed and updated, looks more like a cap from a can of WD-40.
